“Enchanting”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

What a wonderful getaway, perfection really. I have 1 night left but couldn't wait to write my review on this magical accommodation in the Yarra Valley. The ambience and atmosphere are welcoming, elegant and enchanting from the moment you drive down the tree fringed entry road. The staff welcoming and brought our luggage to the room, with a tour of facilities on the way including reception rooms for guests with lovely crackling fireplaces. It was cold and raining when we arrived which for me added to the ambience. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else else on this winters day. Our room (Tarrawarra) fantastic a corner suite overlooking the gorgeous countryside. Our verandah is huge and we drink tea and eat the gorgeous home made biscuits left for us in our room here each afternoon of our visit. The bed is like sleeping on clouds the linens and doona so comfortable best sleep I have had in ages. My husband said the shower is the best shower he has had in 35 years - water pressure is amazing and giant brass rain head is luxurious. Lastly food - I had read some reviews about the average or disappointing breakfast so wasn't expecting much more than pastries, toast and fruit, this was not the case. The room is sunlit and welcoming with gorgeous verandah style furniture, there is a good selection of fruit, pasties, fresh baked bread, salmon, cold cuts, cheese etc as well as a menu with hot cook breakfast from a full breakfast to omelettes, and vegetarian offerings plus to order coffee. Excellent - I couldn't ask for more. Dinner at Elanores is wonderful, so good we are going back again tonight. It is a contradiction in styles that works perfectly the decor is old worldly and the food modern and sensational. I can't fault the Chateau it's a slice of paradise in the Yarra.

Room Tip: We loved our Yarra Suite Tarrawarra it had a view over the valley and was not overlooked - beautiful

We had a couple of nights stay at Chateau Yering and had a wonderful time. We stayed in a River Suite; these rooms are in a newer part of the Chateau but done in an older spacious style. It had an entrance hall, full size bathroom with claw foot and separate shower. The large main room had a king size bed, a table with four chairs, a comfy couch and chair with a coffee table and there was also a small TV in a corner cabinet with the fridge. The effect was of old world luxury but still comfortable and we felt quite at home.
Breakfast was absolutely lovely, with a continental selection, hot breakfast cooked to order and coffee made to order. We didn’t get a chance to use the bar or the lovely looking sitting rooms but we did have one dinner at Eleonore’s restaurant. We decided to splash out on the five course tasting menu with matching wines and the food, the wine and the dining experience was simply superb.
Over our time at Chateau Yering the staff were always very friendly and efficient.

This place is very beautiful. The beds are huge and very comfortable and the place is very quiet and with the thick curtains you can't tell it is morning. A very comfortable stay with a colonial feel and lovely furniture. Really nice toiletries, twining a tea and free biscuits by the bed side and a free bottle of water. They even give you coffee plunger and vittoria coffee in your rooms. The shower head is massive. The Clearwater cafe is ok but eleanores is much better. I would stay here again.

Perhaps this is not the place for a winter get away. The staff were helpful and friendly, but I found the hotel itself lacked ambience. Our room was big, but the layout was just wrong. You could not sit on the comfortable sofa to watch the television because of the position of it, and when you sat on the bed to watch the TV it was too small. The large balcony was soulless and did not invite you out to view the country. The bathroom towels were among some of the best I have had.

This hotel and restaurant has been on 'the list' for years and finally we got to stay - leaving refreshed, loved-up and planning a return!
The plush drawing room provided the English country house feel with deep chairs and lounges which were perfect for a pre-dinner drink and relaxing game of cards.
Our River Suite room was much bigger than I had imagined with private balcony, large
bath tub and OMG the most comfortable bed and luxurious doona ever! Yes it was a little twee with the matching chintzy patterned material everywhere but the whole hotel just brought you into its web of relaxation that even the 'do-not-disturb' fluffy cat left outside your door became cute.
The highlight of the weekend was without doubt the professional, knowledgeable and oh so friendly Eleonore’s restaurant staff (Cameron, you were a delight) and the amazing flavours of the gorgeous food that delivered a taste sensation - that suckling pig and crispy skinned cod were winners!
The property and garden were lovely and with Healesville only 15 minutes away the monthly market was a great excursion.

We had a beautiful room with a large balcony and views over the lush Yarra Valley.
Sophisticated food and wine in a romantic setting.
Wine tasting, cheese and chocolate factories nearby.
We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary in style there.

My wife and I spend a weekend at this hotel in December 2013. The hotel is very nice, the decor federation, and clean and comfortable rooms. The outlook is lovely from most rooms with views across the yarra valley. The restaurant is simply exceptional. Well worth a stay at the hotel just for the restaurant. We will return.
