“Gorgeous!”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

This boutique accommodation lives up to expectations. Lovely setting with welcoming and friendly hosts. We booked the Romantic package and enjoyed sippping champers whilst looking out at the vines. We were hoping for a restful romantic treat and got it!

Room Tip: Room 2 had a lovely view though all romms seemed nice!

As a local Martinborough resident,I often have visitors from around NZ and overseas who want to visit our gorgeous town. I find myself under pressure that I help give their experience of Martinborough a memorable one. When i heard Aylstone was under new management I thought I would give it a whirl. We were whisked upto the turret where we overlooked the surrounding vineyards and could watch the sunset. My friend and I had the steak (melt in your mouth), and the chocolate fondant (felt like we'd died and gone to heaven), and cheese board washed down with a delicious bottle of Chard. We found both the food, service and surroundings all excellent and had a wonderful evening. My friend is already planning her next visit down. I would highly recommend the restaurant for dining.

My wife and myself were driving by and came across this beautiful property. We stopped for lunch at their restaurant and decided to spend two nights. Luckily there was availability. From the moment we checked in our gracious hosts Bruce & Denise made us feel so much at home.

We stayed in Room 5 which has it's own private courtyard. The room was spacious with an ensuite, tea/coffee making facilities, tv, wireless access and underfloor heating . The rooms are clean and well kept.

We had dinner at the restaurant that night. Tony the Head Chef was in charge and was friendly and charming. My wife thought the lamb was a bit over done but apart from that we had a lovely time and a nice meal. Breakfast was at the same place and we had a choice of cooked or continental. The cooked was lovely.

The property has beautiful surroundings, tranquil and pretty. Is within walking distance to a few of the top wineries. Would highly recommend this property. I'm sure we will be back.

Nice place, like a country-style homestead. Very pretty garden surroundings. The bathroom is ultra small, but clean and modern. The room was really nice with lovely furnishings.

Bikes could be more comfortable, and with a total of 6 rooms, it would be nice if there were more than 2 bikes available.

The restaurant was very nice.

We booked through wotif.com which offered a rate of $210 per room. I was a bit annoyed when I found out that breakfast costs at least $16 per person and that if we had booked through the alystone website our room including breakfast would have been $230, thus we actually spent more money going through wotif.com....
