“Fabulous accommodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

We got married in Martinborough in February and booked a few villas at Pinot Villas for our wedding party. Ian was fabulous to deal with from beginning to end and the villas are absolutely lovely. They are in lovely condition and clean and are the backdrop to our getting ready photos. We have stayed at numerous places in Martinborough and rate Pinot Villas among the best. Also very good value. An absolute pleasure and we will be back.

We dropped in on Martinborough after looking for accommodation in nearby Featherstone and Greytown to no avail. It always pays to keep trying when travelling independently albeit we had time on our side , but the barman in the local pub across from Pinot was a star and helped us locate Bruce who runs the place with his cheery wife and team. Its absolutely immaculate and presented beautifully , set in a quieter street across from a 1970s Motel , yikes !
There are four or five units in adjacent to the garden , petanque court , daft dog , barbecue , it goes on , also within reach are quality eateries which are a rare animal in NZ , Cafe Medici seems to churn out fairly nice food when we were there. And , bizarrely the town is quiet , despite what guidebooks would have you believe. A. Very good stay indeed and close to wineries and nice countryside , thanks Bruce.

Room Tip: All units self contained and of highest quality , all are good.

We booked to stay at Pinot Villas after reading recommendations on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The location is great, literally just steps to the central square but still nice and quiet. The villas are all lovely, we stayed in #2 the studio apartment which was one of the smaller units but was still a very good size. The accommodation was very nicely furnished and everything was beautifully maintained. You could tell that the owners took great pride in their business. Ian, the host was very friendly and helpful. If you stay here you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: The villas seemed a bit more private than the studios

Passing thru with our bikes. What an awesome spot to use as. Bas to explore the local vineyards by bike.

Fabulous place, enjoyed it the most of our 5 nights away around Hawkes Bay/Wairarapa/Taupo.Sadly were only booked for one night! So close to the centre of Martinborough, just off the Square, but quiet. We stayed in a one-bedroomed villa. Lounge/dining with lovely TV/DVD, nice kitchenette including proper plunger coffee kept in the fridge, sound system with choice of music, a choice of DVDs, lovely coffee table books or magazines. A very comfy bed with electric blankets, lots of pillows. Good heaters in both the bedroom and the lounge, touches like an umbrella- so much more like a home than most soul-less motels /hotels and yet so clean and high quality. I loved that there was a vistors book! We did not mind that no spa bath in the villa, good big shower and nice bathroom toiletries with even make-up removing items. Ian the owner was really pleasant and accommodating, let us in a bit early because it was raining and we had got to town sooner than we thought.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when we checked into our self-contained villa (#4). It was immaculately clean and the friendly owner showed us around so we knew where everything was located.

The villa had a front room that was an open plan kitchenette and living room (lounge) with a separate bedroom with a comfortable king bed. Although the kitchenette did not have a stove top or oven, it did have a toaster, coffee press (plunger), microwave, and small fridge. We found it perfect for making a simple breakfast. The lounge was comfortable with two sofas, a stereo, DVD, and tv (and a selection of CDs and DVDs). There is also complimentary wi-fi.

The accommodation is made up of about 6 other similar units and is an easy five-minute walk to the local shops, small supermarket, and restaurants and a five minute drive to many wineries.

We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely return.

Room Tip: We stayed in villa #4 which may have recently been renovated (it was in such a well maintained state...

What a gem these villas are, we spent a weekend here and had one of the most enjoyable stays we have had in a long time.
The villas are very comfortable - we had a 1 bedroom villa which had a seperate living and kitchen area which made is spacious and easy to spread out and feel quite at home.
The funishing was great and included a great little sound system with a small but diverse selection of music.
The villas are modern and are well provided with heating for those chilly evenings.
Ian who runs the Villas is a great guy who is happy to give you plenty of information about places to eat and things to do and see when in town - this really added to the pleasure of the visit.
The location of the villas is a real plus - they are just off the village centre and a 4 minute walk to just about everywhere in town, however how they are located puts them in a quiet and private setting.
The great thing about the location is also the small cafes and pubs/bars which are very laid back - we spent one great afternoon sitting in the sun having happy hour "bubbles" and nibblies at the old post office on the central square.
The wineries are all around the town and being a small town with small wineries means that many are within walking distance (or bike riding distance) from the villas
There are plenty of resteraunts to eat at and the quality is great - sure they may not be the cheapest places to eat but we found that we got great value for money.
We will definitely be back!!
