Coney has a small lunch menu with the expected range of meat choices covering beef, pork, lamb and fish. Vegetarians also get provided for.

Prices are average for the area but the food presentation and quality is much better than average!

Our group of four choose curry, beef, pork and vegetarian. The vegetarian option was excellent as was the beef. The curry was really nicely presented. The pork wrap was poorly executed and despite being Asian styled, was served with a wheat bread wrap.

Deserts and starters were good.

The wine was great and the pre-lunch tasting was comprehensive albeit accompanied by equally comprehensive (and constant) spiel from the Coney Character!

We left happy, pleased with a good meal and two cases of wine in the boot.

Highly recommended.

Just a little way out of the village but the food and their Pinot Noir is just the best. Try the different way of tasting plates with their wines. Great little restaurant right in the vineyard, genial hosts and Oh, did I mention their Pinot Noir?

Coney Wines is a must go place to eat - or celebrate a special event. Set in a Tuscan style courtyard with white roses and views of the vines on the outskirts of Martinborough - prepare to be entertained and have your taste buds stimulated. My partner and I make regular visits from Wellington to enjoy Margaret's fab food and Tim's friendly patter about wine, his poetry on the wine bottles, and try the latest music themed wines. The menu is seasonal and based on local produce and as other reviewers have noted, delicious and well-presented. The desserts we had most recently were innovative takes on traditional often heavier recipes that tantalised rather than left you feeling overstuffed- with bannoffi pie served as a delicate and refined deconstruction of the key ingredients banana and caramel and cream. We take the risk and make the 1 hour trip without booking first, but it is a very popular cafe so I recommend checking there is a table available. Tim always makes us feel welcome like old friends and we look forward to our next visit.

Went here for lunch last weekend with family with no booking on a long weekend and lucky for us they had just had a cancellation. We enjoyed a tasting of all of their wines to start with at our table which was a great idea and purchased a bottle of the Syrah to accompany our mains. We all ordered different mains and when they came out they looked mouth-watering. I had a venison hotpot which was beautiful and when I asked the others how their meals were they said the same. I had a cheesecake for dessert which was beautiful and we followed with a cheese platter and a bottle of "The Ritz" to finish. All and all it was a wonderful lazy Sunday afternoon lunch with great service, wine and wonderful food. Would strongly recommend to anyone.

We have been here a couple of times on trips to NZ and it never disappoints.
The food is excellent, the setting gorgeous, and Tim Coney provides informative and amusing chat to accompany the tastings.
I only wish my husband didn't love the wine quite so much as we always come home with far too much of the stuff!
Well worth the drive out of Martinborough and very accommodating of younger ones which is always helpful.
