“Prepare to be Spoilt with Luxury!”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

After our 4 day stay here we felt totally relaxed and thoroughly spoilt !!
Our hosts Wendy and Tony have perfected the fine art of making you feel as if you're a very special friend returning to visit after a long absence.
The attention to detail is incredible, - the KS bed that you just sink into, the divine cotton sheets, the tasteful modern décor, the fresh flowers, the view, the superb garden etc
Then there's Wendy's Signature breakfasts!! - with all manner of home made goodies, and the friendly relaxed chatter that just flows during breakfast, with all kinds of helpful hints on what to see and do whilst in Keri Keri and surrounding areas.
A visit to Tony's painting gallery is a must - Tony's skill as an artist is amazing! - his waterfront scenes are so realistic - you'd swear it was a photo!! - and Tony has the ability to give the water a 3 dimensional appearance! - as if you can dip your hand right into the water!! - I've never seen this before.
All in all it was an unforgettable 4 day experience, that we'll never forget.
Thankyou Wendy and Tony, for making our stay in Keri Keri so magical

Room Tip: Both rooms are divine!!!

We recently stayed for two nights with Tony and Wendy at Treghan Cottage. Our hosts greeted us warmly and welcomed us into their beautiful home which is both tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. We immediately felt 'at home'. Our suite was gorgeous! The view to the garden and over the valley was stunning! It had, arguably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. It was wonderful chatting to our hosts over breakfast and exceptionally good coffee. Wendy makes an amazing home made muesli and was kind enough to provide me with her recipe. Wendy made reservations for us at a local restaurant and her recommendation was 'spot on'. The food and service were great. Among other things, Tony and Wendy recommended a local bromeliad nursery. If you love bromeliads, this is a definite 'must see'. The owner, Poppy is extremely knowledgeable. The gallery at Treghan Cottage is fabulous. It contains, among other gems, Tony's fabulous paintings. I bought all of my gifts to take home in this gallery. A stay at Treghan Cottage is highly recommended. We can't wait to return.

"Simply the best", now that is a lovely comment, we work very hard at delivering a high standard with quality fitting but also to make it feel like a relaxed home for you to enjoy. You are the third person in a short time to mention the quality beds, they are top of the line so our choice was a good one. All of our food where possible is home made and we are renowned for delivery yummy food and yes top coffee of your choice. So pleased you enjoyed the gallery and the gifts you bought. See you again regards Wendy & Tony

We stayed at the Treghan Cottage January 8,9 and throughly enjoyed our stay. It is close to Kerikeri and the hosts helped us to explore the Northern Island/Bay of Islands. Returning to the Cottage, we had beautiful gardens in a peaceful setting. I would recommend this B&B as it is wonderful. An additional bonus is the Art Gallery displaying local artist's work as well as Tony's artwork. Bravo.

After a long day of driving and hiking, Wendy greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us our beautiful room. We weren't expecting the amazing views of their garden (which they keep up themselves!). The room has high quality linens, towels and furniture. We slept so well in the very comfortable bed. The entire home is decorated so tastefully. What we will remember most about our stay at Treghan Cottage is the treatment we received from Tony and Wendy. We had such a nice time chatting and visiting with them over breakfast. They treat you like long time friends. Wendy makes some lovely breakfasts with both super healthy and slightly naughty options. She also serves up some lovely coffee drinks. Definitely take them up on their recommendations of things to do around Kerikeri. Don't miss seeing the Bay of Islands by boat. Wendy was kind enough to make reservations for us with a local company and was able to get a 10% discount for us. A short trip to the Puketi Forest allows a nice walk amongst the famous Kauri trees. The sights of the forest and sounds of the birds and Cicadas were nothing short of magical. A trip to Cooper's beach reminded us of beaches in Hawaii. We ate lunch at the famous Mangonui fish shop. If you like fish and chips, this is the place for you. It was a bit greasy for us though. Our days were so packed with fun that we were too exhausted to go out for a nice dinner......don't do this to yourself. We missed out on dining at the tropical garden restaurant called Food at Wharepuke. We were hoping to get take out at this restaurant but upon arriving after a day at the beach realized we were going to have to miss out on this dining experience. Take my word for it, you will love your stay here......one more tip......stay at least three nights.

Room Tip: There are only two rooms so book early. We stayed downstairs in the room with the king sized bed...

Hi there, oh thank you for taking the time to write a delightful review, yes the views are stunning and very relaxing in a quiet environment and again the wonderful beds get mentioned, thank you, (just to note both suites have King sized beds.)
Breakfast are a highlight, we like our guests to really feel at home and enjoy the great food and setting. You mentioned the gardens, we love our gardens and our 1 hectare is also for our guest to enjoy when staying.
Good tip to other travellers to book early, we do get very full and hate to disappoint. See you again, regards Wendy & Tony

Our 3-night stay at the Treghan Cottage exceeded all our expectations. Wendy & Tony were the perfect and delightful hosts and we felt truly at home. The rooms were just too perfect with top notch amenities, and i simply love the bed and especially the soft fluffy robes! The view from our room balcony was obviously stunning, overlooking the beautiful garden and a picturesque beauty of the forest in a far distance. We were in Kerikeri to accept an invite to the wedding of a friend's daughter, as such time to explore the place was somewhat limited. But Wendy made it easy for us with her extra effort to advise and set up sight seeing plans for us. Breakfast time was somewhat special, yummy and healthy, coupled with the fun and lovely conversations we had over breakfast. And not to mention Tony's gallery with all the lovely painting and craftworks. We cant wait for the painting to arrive and we just know where exactly we want to hang it. Thank you once again.

Hi there, oh thank you for taking the time to write a delightful review, we always try to go the extra mile to make this feel like it is your home away from home, great to know we succeeded. Yes the views are stunning and very relaxing in a quiet environment with now close neighbours or traffic sound yet less than 1K to Kerikeri certainly helps to get a good nights sleep. We are known for our quality food and yes you can have healthy or slightly naughty whatever you feel like on the day. We are delighted that you bought one of Tony's paintings from the gallery, enjoy it hanging on your wall. We look forward to your next visit. regards Wendy & Tony

My fiancé and I booked a nights stay here while exploring the far North. However once we were there we loved it so much we booked an extra night.

When we first arrived we were greeted by Wendy and made to feel very welcome and shown to our 'wing' of the guest room.

We had our own floor upstairs with separate bathroom, bedroom and lounge area complete with mini bar, welcome afternoon tea snack and lots of information on the area.

Wendy took the time to ask us what we wanted to see/do while in the area an told us that she could help us plan our trip. She has a great knowledge of the area and surrounding attractions to see/do.

With Wendy's help we were able to find out about a great bus tour of Cape Reigna with 'Harrisons buses' which we booked and had an amazing day trip to Cape Reigna which saw us driving up the beach, riding sand dunes, having a picnic a the bay and exploring Cape Regina.

Wendy and Tony are very great hosts and we enjoyed our conversations over the delicious daily breakfast made fresh for us.

We really enjoyed our time at Treghan and it felt like we were with old friends. We will defiantly be back for another relaxing stay and get away.
