We've been here several times for brunch which never disappoints. The Pear Tree overlooks the estuary and is across the road from the historical Stone Store. There is a walking track which is undergoing construction to Hone Heke's Pa site.

We went there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon after having returned from Auckland. Unfortunately we had apparently missed the Lunch menu and they were only serving bar snacks. I think they are under new management and their staff are always young and not that savvy with the hospitality industry.

We decided on a toasted sandwich, which consisted of melted cheese & processed ham, which was very average. My husband does a mean Cheese, Red Onion & Tuna Melt and there was no comparison. Plus a bowl of hand cut chips. We both had a Corona as the wine list was not very extensive or interesting enough.

We haven't been here for a while and probably won't return in a hurry, which is a pity because it has a great view overlooking the river and the wharf.

Our "snacks" with beer came to $58 which was a tad expensive for snacks.

I visited twice in one month which must say something. Firstly, a Sunday Brunch which was superb. We had the Pear Tree Eggs which were DELICIOUS and filling.

Back a few weeks later for dinner. We ordered the Mussels for starters which were beautiful followed by the Lamb Shanks for Mains. I have never tasted better Lamb Shanks anywhere, they were perfectly cooked. Compliments to the chef.

On top of the wonderful meals the restaurant is situated at the waters edge with subtle views across the Kerikeri river. The service was all class and the staff looked after us extremely well.

We will be back!
