Lionel greets us and we are beholden by this magnificent front door. And then the Entry! All I will say is that this is not mentioned on their web site and therefore such a plus when you walk through the door! The rooms are luxurious and the gardens magnificent and the swimming pool tops it all off after a day of sightseeing. Rob & Lionel recommended some great local restaurants, helped us book our chosen tours and gave us some great advice on what to see & do. Staying there as guests throughout the Christmas and New Year period, they were the perfect hosts. We were at home! Moon Gate Villa is perfectly situated as a base when exploring the Bay of Islands and I would recommend this upmarket B&B to anyone who appreciates class & style.

We booked the Cottage for 2 nights late November 2011, and enjoyed our stay so much we extended an extra night. Lionel and Rob were the perfect hosts, extremely cheerful and helpful, but unobtrusive. Beautiful surrounds and gardens, all in immaculate condition. We had driven from Auckland via the East Coast and were planning to return the same way, but Lionel and Rob suggested we go back the West Coast to see the scenery on the other side. What a great suggestion. We would thoroughly recommend Moon Gate Villa to anyone visiting this beautiful part of New Zealand who wants better than average accomodation.

We recently stayed at this wonderful B/B. From the moment we parked the car we were greeted from such a cheerful man called Lionel. Both Lionel and Rob could not do enough for us on our short stay. The location was surpurb and the interiors great. All the comforts of home and more !. Would highly recommend this property who needs pampering or just appreciates the nice things in life.

We were greated by Lionel as we steped out of the car and were made welcome instantly, first inpression was "What a fantastic place."
Moon Gate Villa is situated off Kerikeri Road oppisite the Red Shed and between a child care and Pete's Place, up a long drive to the main entrance with a lovely mature tree set in the middle of the turning circle, plenty of parking, once you pass through the huge main door the visial treat continues with a lovely internal water wayto the left and the lounge (with large windows and doors looking out onto the garden).
We were shown to our room and the picture of it on the net did not do it justice.
Our room had a enormas bed, wide screen wall mounted TV, WIFI, a 2 seater couch and singal chair, there were a couple of chairs outside on the deck for relaxing with a cold beer or glass of wine at the end of the day, the desk was all set up for a laptop or writing a letter/postcard. The bathroom had a shower with great water pressure, heated towel rail, a soft close toilet and vanity unit.

We had travelled up North to arange my fathers funeral, once this was known by Lionel and Rob they were determind that we would have a place to come back to so that we could recharge for the next day.
Lionel orginised dinner for us at local resturants, both were fantastic. Breakfast was an aray of treats that we would not normally have.
We would stay at Moon Gate Villa again in half a second, it is such a lovely, relaxing place. Thank you Lionel and Rob, next time we will explore your lovely gardens.

Dirk and Julie.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, only one has a bath though.

I recently stayed at the Moon Gate Villa for three days as part of a monthlong tour of New Zealand. It was by far the nicest place I stayed during my trip. My hosts Lionel and Rob were attentive to my every request, making my retreat perfect in every way. Although the Moon Gate Villa is conveniently located on the main road into Kerikeri, it is set back from the road behind another property in a beautiful garden full of subtropical plants, making it peaceful and quiet. I woke up every morning to a chorus of birdsong in the garden and a wonderful continental breakfast. I would recommend Moon Gate Villa to my friends and family without reservation, and definitely plan to stay there if and when I am lucky enough to return to New Zealand again someday.

We headed up to Keri Keri for the second time in as many months to do a sky-dive (the first being cancelled due to weather) to say the least we were less than impressed with our first accomodation arrangements. What a change to stay at the lovely Moon Gate villa. this is exactly what we could have saw when imagining what accomodation we could find. Situated off Kefikeri road, we were greeted at the door by Lionel, Rob and Rocky with a very warm reception. What a beautiful setting to get us in the mood for throwing ourselves out of a plane later on in the weekend. The first thing that struck us was the beautiful setting we found ourselves in, surrounded by lovely New Zealand native plants and a well tended and large garden area, an internal stream in the main entrance hallway added a lovely touch and the room itself was beyond compare including the bathroom with a really nice hot shower with good pressure! Rob and Lionel tende to our every need and were very good in recommending a restaurant for us to visit that night for dinner (which was lovely) We ate outside in the garden in the morning and were treated to a lovely cooked breakfast. All in all the best hospitality i have ever experienced when staying, well anywhere. Highly Recommended!! Thankyou Lionel and Rob. Scott
