We booked a full day tour for 10 people. Everything was arranged and confirmed in advance. However, when we arrived off the tender at the dock, we were surprised to find out that another group of 8 people had been added to our "private" tour. While Alec was apologetic at the time and a larger vehicle was provided, we did not get what we had booked.
Our group was together and arrived on time to start immeditately as scheduled. The other group came off on a later tender and did not have their entire group. We lost at least one hour waiting. I think we made it to all of the sights, but time may have been curtailed to make up the lost hour. We went to an alternate lunch site, which was okay. But I think we just did a drive-by at one of the later sights instead of stopping. We also lost an opportunity to shop at a local craft fair due to time constraints.
In consideration of the inconvenience, Alec did cover our glow worm cave admission, which had not been part of the original tour price. This somewhat made up for the double booking. The rating of this tour would probably have been better had it not been for the double booking. The bad experience at the start left everyone with a negative attitude to start off with. Alec was okay as a guide and driver. We could understand when he was speaking and he was seemed pretty knowledgeable about the area and its history. I would probably use him again as long as I received assurance in advance that we would not be combined with any other groups.
