Great area to visit. The Inn at Riverbend has a panoramic view of the New River Valley best seen from any room at the inn. All rooms have a view down the valley to the river. The rooms are quite comfortable and all open onto a terrace overlooking the same valley. Breakfast was wonderful! Owner's and staff comfortable and knowledgeable. Loved it.

As a group we were delighted with the accommodations at Inn at Riverbend. The views from the porch are simply beautiful. The dining area, individual rooms, and leisure areas are delightful. The meals were the best that we have had anywhere in the country! Thank you Lynn, Linda, and Eric for 3 wonderful days. Wish we could have stayed longer!!!

This is a great inn to visit and you'll love it here. Stayed Apr 22-24 in the McKenzie and Griffin rooms.

The rooms and inn are super clean. I felt fine going barefoot on the deck. The views are spectacular. The blinds are really neat ones that are like an accordion. But kept them up almost the entire stay to enjoy the view. Watched the sunrise from the McKenzie. Some of the rooms didn't say river view, but I think if you looked out the window from any room you could see the river.

The beds were triple sheeted, which I had not heard of before. But was kinda fun. And the linens were soooo soft we had to buy a pair for our own beds, and even some as gifts.

Previous reviews notated the trains and the windows in the bathroom. I love the windows in the bathroom. I could take a shower and look out at the awesome view. No one can look in and it is very private. No worries at all. The train was no big deal either. It is rather nice that is comes by and is quaint and part of the charm. We slept great.

The attention to detail is so superb. The food is fantastic. The cookies and tea in the lounge were terrific. Was also nice to be able to get water or soft drinks from the refrig too if needed. They even had a Wi downstairs if you wanted to play games. Didn't have time, but was nice it was there.

You HAVE to take the cooking class with Gio, the chef at The Bank restaurant in town. The class was sooo much fun. How often do you get to cook with an Italian chef? Made spaghetti, ravioli, and tortellini. Also ricotta cheese. All of the ingredients are fresh and local. Was soo deelish I am spoiled and wished he was in the DC area. I don't want to eat anywhere else. Except maybe at the Inn itself. The breakfasts were fabulous. The banana daiquiri muffins were so good I had to have 2. Was fun to see what was going to be for breakfast. I don't even drink coffee regularly, but had to have a cup or two of their own coffee blend each morning. It was yummy as well. I should have bought some to bring home.

The glass blowing class with Parker was fantastic as well. Another definite must. Was so much fun holding the tube, rolling the glass on the color, putting it in the glory hole. Depending on the size of the class, he may run it differently. But since it was just the 2 of us, we got to try it all, with his assistance. Had always wanted to try glass blowing. He also had really cool paper weights and things for sale. Had noticed one of his works at the Inn. Now I have my own.

All of the staff at the Inn are non-comparable. Lynn, Linda, and Eric are top notch. They make each guest feel so special and taken care of, remembering names, keeping us on track for times of activities, recommending restaurants, noting we should change shoes for the cooking class even. They even ordered up a rainbow for our stay. Couldn't ask for more.

While the Inn itself doesn't allow pets, they recommended doecreekkennels. Oh my gosh, this was a B & B for dogs. Allison is sooo nice. They have themed rooms for the pets. Ours stayed in the Egyptian room. Cots, artwork on the walls, a window, separate room from the other dogs. They have a huge play yard with pool. They take nap times, have snack times, have a wind down with movies. You can stay and play with your dog for a while to see they are comfortable or stop in to visit and check on them. They even emailed pics and told how the dog was doing.

This Inn is very close to where they filmed Dirty Dancing as well. It is actually just down the road from the dog kennel. That was an added bonus to see where a movie was filmed.

The cascades were such a great hike and beautiful falls. It was about a 2 hour round trip hike, at a good pace. Probably better to do it slower, but was rushed for time as it was already 5pm. Made it though. Was a moderate hike. And you can take the easier trail back to the car. A grandma was doing it with her dau and grand dau from VA tech. It is definitely a must see in the area. Spectacular.

I can't wait for my next trip to the Inn.

So glad that you enjoyed your escape from DC! Thanks for sharing your fresh made pasta at lunch-I enjoyed tasting the flavors and varieties that you created. You're the first of our guests to take the glass blowing glasses so I'm glad that you enjoyed meeting Parker and participating in this special craft.
Hope to see you again soon!

My girlfriend decided to treat me to a special stay at the Inn at Riverbend last month and it was truly amazing! Upon arriving, Lynn and Linda were so welcoming that they made us feel like we were old friends coming for a visit. They were so incredibly nice, making us feel right at home for our entire stay. We stayed in the Mackenzie room which was incredible. The view from our bed alone made us not want to leave. The entire place was clean and luxurios, but retained a very homey feel.
In the morning we ate a breakfast that was to die for. Fresh fruit and yogurt, rasberry waffles, sausage, and juice made for a hearty meal with excellent taste!
The Inn is located perfectly atop a ridge that overlooks green fields, beautiful mountains, and an enchanting winding river. There wasn't a bad view in the place! The beautiful mountain setting was perfect for an isolated romantic getaway, we couldn't have asked for more. Lynn and Linda have wonderfuly decorated the place and have everything you could ask for right at your fingertips. A great cookie jar, coffe, and soda and water bottles were there for us whenever we wanted. Whats more, they set us up with a great picnick lunch so we could explore the grounds and bask in the sunlit gardens.
Overall the Inn at Riverbend was an unforgettable experience, and perfect for any occasion. By far the best parts of the experience were the hospitality and the breathtaking views. It is truly something undescribable and you should experience it for yourself.

Thirty minutes west of Blacksburg (Virginia Tech), off the beaten path, and what a surprise -high up on a ridge with a magnificent view of the New River. Everything was spotlessly clean. The innkeepers were attentive and engaging. Breakfast was excellent -lovely omelet, fresh berries, homemade croissant with guava jelly, great chicken sausage, yum.
Comfy, tasteful, uncluttered, elegant. Bonus: fly tying station for anglers! We'll be back.

This is a wonderful place to stop and enjoy the view - though it is off the beaten path. The accommodations are flawless and the hosts are very nice people. It is not the traditional b&b with lace and baroque wallpaper but a modern inn with a well stocked library of dvds, books and games to entertain you when you get tired of the view. Every room has a soaking tub or jacuzzi.

The surrounding areas has great hikes, kayaking , fishing, and more. There are a good number of dining options for dinner though we did not have dinner in the area.

Our 3-day stay was an absolutely super experience! The mountain and river views from the windows and huge decks are breathtaking - especially with the changing leaves. The hospitality was gracious and the innkeepers saw to our every need. The Sunday night candlelight dinner and hearty breakfast each day were delicious. I can't think of enough positive adjectives to describe this wonderful B & B. If you haven't experienced the Inn at Riverbend, make your reservation. You'll be in for a treat. We will definitely be back!
