We had a wonderful relaxing stay in this well appointed, extreemly comfortable INN.
I would highly recommend staying here, if you enjoy bicycling, there are easy nature rides and beaches to explore, lovely senic spots within 5 miles and the bike ride along the country roads are very pretty , crusing along farms and beaches and old churches.
Greg, Lori and Dave are wonderful hosts and provide the most scrumptious breakfast !
All organic from the food to the linnens. The beds were extreemly comfortable and even the futon in our sitting area. GO !
If you are looking for a cozy, peaceful getaway, look no farther (:

Although I'm a native of Richmond, I had never explored Mathews County area. We arrived for a 2 night stay and were warmly greeted by Dave as we drove in. He guided us through the features of the main house, and then by the pool(seasonal) to our Chesapeake Suite in a separate building from the main house. The room was comfortable, very clean, large sitting area in the front and a king bed (very, very comfortable) with a Jacuzzi tub,and then a separate bathroom with a stall shower. Every thing was very clean. The building with the 2 suites has a deck on the front with chairs to enjoy the peaceful view. There is a dock with2 chairs to be close to the water, and a fire pit with chairs surrounding it. Lori was very friendly, and provided great and varied breakfasts both days. She genuinely wants you to have a good experience as her guests. I suggested she consider adding small bar style refrigerators to the 2 suites, so guests there might be able to keep things cold without having to walk back and forth to the main house. Be aware that the closest place to eat is in Mathews a 4.5 mile drive. So,plan accordingly to bring snacks etc. We had lunch at Linda's Diner in Mathews, and the BBQ sandwich was big and very delicious. Dinner was at Richardson's in an old drugstore converted to a restaurant. Lots of specials, but after all the snacking at the wine & cheese at the Inn the first night, we both had chef's salads which were very good. More shopping and dining is available in Gloucester--a 35 minute ride from the Inn. We got take out our second night from the small Chinese restaurant next to the Food Lion in Mathews, and had a dinner on our front deck watching the sun set over Tabbs Creek. Very quiet relaxing atmosphere here, but don't expect fancy dining, shopping, or nightlife nearby. You can take walks, go canoeing, ride a bicycle, or just sit ,read and enjoy the quiet of nature surrounding you. Also, worth following Highway #14 to the end where there is a nature conservancy area, and you can see the historic lighthouse in the distance. We both truly enjoyed Greg & Lori's hospitality, and recommend this as a peaceful getaway to unwind.

Room Tip: I think the upgrade to the suites is worth the price of extra room and privacy.

This is a great place to unwind. Greg and Lori are wonderful hosts; some of the nicest people you will find running a bed and breakfast. The breakfasts were delicious, our room was spacious and cozy, the grounds are beautiful, and the wine/cheese social was very inviting. Greg and Lori have extensive knowledge of the area and were able to provide us with several recommendations during our stay for dinner, antiquing, and sightseeing. I'll definitely be back! I highly recommend the Inn at Tabbs Creek!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely and full of windows. We stayed in the East Billups room which provided a...

This is a great place to get away from it all. I really appreciate the eco-friendly touches, such as the water saving toilets and the yummy smelling organic soaps. The breakfasts were top notch, the house is warm and inviting, Greg and Lori are terrific hosts, the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, the bed was comfy. The Mathews County area is lovely and sleepy, but also has some nice restaurants. It is a little harder to eat on a Monday night, we found, but there is a good Thai restaurant in Gloucester.

Our most recent stay at the Inn at Tabbs Creek was like all the times we've stayed there in the past -- simply wonderful. Restful, relaxing, beautiful, great breakfasts, and the friendliest, most accommodating hosts one will find anywhere. Greg and Lori are truly wonderful people to spend time with, and we cherish our visits. Can't wait to get back there this Spring.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a less than great room in the entire Inn ...

My husband and I recently spent 2 wonderful nights at The Inn. I could have stayed there forever. We were greeted by Dave at the front door who showed us to our room and gave us a quick tour. Reception and check in couldn't have been easier. We felt truly welcomed.
ITC is far enough away to be very peaceful but close enough to enjoy lots of adventuring and exploring. We had never been to this part of Virginia and there is so much to see. Greg and Lori are superb hosts and the breakfasts are great. The afternoon wine and cheese gathering was a casual but warm reception for guests to meet each other and their hosts.
The folks in the area are all so nice and truly hospitable. Our recently renovated room and new bathroom were very relaxing and comfortable. There are no TV's in the room (thank goodness!) but there is one in the "library" downstairs, which includes book and movies to borrow.
Lori guided us to great driving tours and sights in the area as well as cook superb breakfasts! We walked away each day full and satisfied! She eve shared a couple of her recipes with us. Thanks Lori!
Paintings of Greg's grandmother hang throughout the house and that really gives the feeling of home, not just temporary quarters. I think it's a very nice touch. They are beautiful works.
If you really need some away time, down time or want to sit on the dock and ponder the universe, this is a great place!

Room Tip: We stayed in West Billups. Does require going up steps but the room is spacious and the afternoon su...

Can't say enough about our recent visit to Tabbs Creek. The inn is a lovely old house, keeping all the character of it's origins, but with nicely updated bedrooms and bathrooms. Comfortable, peaceful, and inviting, we spent time by the fire in the library, sitting on deck chairs on the dock, wandering around the area, and enjoying the beautiful water views from the Captain's Room. Greg, Lori, and David are gracious hosts, committed to making sure your stay is a pleasant one. Breakfasts are fresh, delicious, and varied with something to please everyone. You can borrow bicycles to explore the area or take the canoe out for a trip around the cove. We have found that one of the highlights of staying at a B&B is spending time with the other guests, getting to know new people from different backgrounds.

Room Tip: The water views from both West Billups and the Captain's Room on the second floor of the main ho...
