“Impersonal”
Reviewed 25 May 2014 via mobile

We visited on a crowded Saturday. The tasting bar is not large enough to accommodate the visitors. The red wines were delicious but the prices per bottle ($48-52) make them unrealistic for the average person to purchase. Our server was impersonal and robotic. He made mistakes on my order and with the order of the people next to us. We didn't feel particularly valued as customers.

“Beautiful setting - hugely disappointing wines”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

If you want a day out of the city and to experience a vineyard with nice views, and that is your only requirement, then this is the place. If you enjoy wine, can even calibrate your expectations considering the Virginia wine market, then don't go to Breaux. Possibly the worst wine I've ever had. I was surprised they could even serve such poor quality product. We had the tasting so unfortunately we experienced the entire bad lot of their offering. So disappointed as I really wanted to like this vineyard. Fortunately there are many more in the immediate area with much better wines. I did notice the other comments about the rude staff. I don't think ours were particularly rude but completely unenthusiastic. It's possibly because they know what they are serving.

I had to give this place two stars as the setting, scenery and view is actually that good to overcome a one star rating. Such a sad waste of a potentially great place.

“St. Patrick's Day Wine Tour”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

Our third stop on a beautiful Saturday in Virginia wine country was at Breaux Vineyards. It was a crazy with people celebrating a little early for St. Pat’s Day but we were able to get a pourer right away. The tasting was in a big, bright new tasting room with live music. We liked our tasting and then we got to pick for a drawing – I won a baguette! Lovely winery!

“Decent Vineyard”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

Had a good experience at Breaux Vineyards today. The tasting room is an underground room with tables and small windows. The room above was for club members only. There was another building that was under construction. Hopefully this will be another tasting room with views of the mountains for all visitors. We will definitely be back when it's warmer to enjoy the outside seating. Our pourer was an older gentleman with a great mustache, he gave us a very detailed history of the vineyard and each wine. Very informative. Our favorite wines were the Equation and 2006 Cab (we love red wines). The vineyard has a very nice set up with paved driving and gravel parking. The tasting fee was $10 per person for tasting 8 wines.

“maybe we caught them on an off day...”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

Easy to find... and the access to the property is safe and wide, which was nice since it was a rainy day. The Tasting Room is currently undergoing renovation, so we did our tasting in the event room, which is quite large. Our wines were poured on fold out tables in the middle of the room. Overall, the whole experience was fairly "corporate" and canned. I guess the low point was our hostess declining to substitute red wine pours for the desert wine pours. Really now, we were the only visitors there on a rainy Friday afternoon in early December- and she still had to push the desert wine?

Maybe we will give it another try when their new tasting room opens in summer 2014.
