“A tiny beauty in VA wine country.”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

I have been here a few times and never have been disappointed. The last time it was very cold out and we were seated directly in front of the fireplace, heavenly. The food is very good, but be warned, prices are on the high side, while portions are on the small side. If you are a big eater I would recommend getting an appetizer. Quant little restaurant you should visit.

“A luncheon treat”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

My wife and I ate Sunday brunch at Grandale today. We had eaten dinner there before but this was our first brunch visit. Grandale restaurant is in a lovely farm setting in an unassuming building surrounded by vineyard and farm buildings. Outdoor seating in good weather. The restaurant is fairly small, maybe a dozen tables, and nicely decorated with a pleasant view of the surrounding countryside. The food was superb as was the service. A large selection of wines are available including their own. We had one of their Chardonnay's and a Merlot Rose that were quite nice. Food is grown locally. The corn chowder was very good as was my shrimp and mushroom omelet. My wife's BLT was delicious. Plenty of parking. Wine tasting room on the property. Nice country atmosphere.

“My compliments to the management-they respond to reviews with action”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

I had complained in my previous review of being sure the reservation would be honored. Lo and behold when I called last Saturday for a Sunday reservation they sent me an email confirming the reservation in 5 minutes. Not only was the reservation handled perfectly even my request for table at the window honored. A great experience! The setting as always very appealing and service was definitely up a few notches! Now if they read this review they should consider putting some californian gas heaters on the deck/patio for those slightly chilly but sunshiny days!!!

“Great dining across from Breaux”

Great food on a farm in the beautiful Virginia countryside. A wonderful place to relax after a day of hiking and/or touring the local vineyards.

“Great food”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

We were looking for a nice and higher quality restaurant, and this was a good choice. The macaroni and cheese was outstanding and the steaks were excellent. The menu is quite good--right down to the locally sourced teas. They provide chocolate truffles at the end of your meal as well--a very nice touch. They had a fire in the fireplace and stoked it throughout the evening. The atmosphere is good, but ask for a corner table if you want a little more privacy. Can't go wrong with this choice.
