“a surprisingly good Best Western in a random location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2014

My partner and I stayed at this Best Western Inn & Suites because he was visiting some friends in Ruckersville and we decided to stay close instead of going into downtown Charlottesville. This Best Western is pretty much the only option in this area within 10 miles, so we gave it a shot. I'll be the first to say that I don't stay at Best Westerns a lot, but the fact that this location is a "Best Western Plus" definitely made it the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed at.

Check-in was kind of annoying, because we could tell from previous reviews and just looking at the parking lot itself that this hotel was definitely under capacity. We found a price under $100 online, but figured we could just walk in and they would match that price. Wrong. They had a price that was $30 more then what you could get online. So basically we just booked it in front of the clerk online and then she had a reservation. That's a problem in Best Westerns policy book that they don't allow for walk-ins to match the rate you can find on the Internet. Bad corporate management.

The room itself was much larger than I thought it was going to be. High, vaulted ceilings and so many pillows on the bed. This is not a normal Best Western, and that's the good news. There were random hairs on the TV for whatever reason, but it's not something you wouldn't find elsewhere, to be honest.

The checkout was simple, though we woke up too late for breakfast. As we departed relatively close to the checkout time, the coffee in the main lobby was already cold.

If you find yourself needing to stay in Ruckersville, this Best Western is certainly a fine option. But with a Comfort Inn 10 miles away and closer to downtown Charlottesville about 15 miles away, if I weren't specifically staying in Ruckersville, I don't know why you would stay here. The location is kind of off.

We greatly appreciate the time you took to write such a thorough review. I wanted to assure you the hotel does price ourselves very competitively for our market and all the hotels rates are based upon availability. Please keep in mind that many on-line rates are restrictive (such as no refunds, full prepay, etc) and some are even negotiated rates offered through third party websites. Sometimes the hotel directly does offer rates close or at the same price point. If you could contact me directly via e-mail at jpeatross@bwcville.com or phone at 434-985-1855 to provide your name and stay information, I will certainly ensure I follow up. Additionally, we normally brew fresh coffee for the lobby regularly throughout the day and I have already addressed this with the staff. Thank you so much for your kind feedback and it sounds like you had an overall pleasant experience. We hope to see you again should your travels bring you back to our area.

We stayed only one night during unexpected trip, but can not say any bad word against this hotel. The breakfast was quite good (including pork sausage, eggs, smashed egg, waffles, fruits, cereal). Beds were comfortable, and room was clean.

Room Tip: We took a room on the 3rd floor - almost nobody was in the hotel at that day so it was quiet, warm e...

We had a great stay at this Best Western. We did not spend much time at the hotel but did enjoy the room, service and breakfast. We will stay there again next year when we visit family again. There is a Dunkin Donuts within walking distance. The coffee was so-so. I drove to the Starbucks 6 miles south of the hotel for my coffee. The area is a growing area with many new stores and fast food restaurants in the area.

Thank you for the positive review you provided. I am sorry you were not pleased with our coffee. We do purchase from the same supplier that provides the Dunkin Donuts coffee on the east coast. I will certainly follow up to ensure the equipment and brew temperatures are working properly. We hope to see you again.

We are not alone in our review of this hotel. Met lots of people staying there who said the same thing, it's clean, the staff is pleasant and it's priced reasonably. What more could you want. As long as the standards remain as they are now, we will continue to stay at this hotel when visiting our children.

We were traveling through, wanted a nice place to stop for the night. A somewhat local friend recommended this place.

It was a good call. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The rates were good as well, less than you would expect for this level of place, I expect that was due to the location, which is on the highway, but it's not a tourist area.

Stayed overnight due to all hotels booked in Charlottesville. Very nice, clean and quiet! The only issue I had was with my cell phone. I have AT&T and the signal was extremely poor in the room. I had to go to the end of the hall by the window to get reception. Our room/bathroom was spacious and clean. Complimentary breakfast had a nice variety if foods. It took us 15 minutes to get to UVA without traffic. The hotel has a small strip in the front with Dunkin Donuts but plenty of stores and restaurants within a short drive down Seminole Trail. We had a peaceful and quiet stay and will be returning.

Clean, comfortable, friendly and courteous staff, nice beds, attractive large rooms, quiet. Really a hotel. The complimentary breakfast had a nice variety and plenty of it. Well equipped business center. Safe in the room. Well worth the reasonable price. No complaints at all. I will stay here again when I'm in the Charlottesville area.
