Was there november 2006 when I exported a classic '70 Olds 442 from Chicago to Norway. Drove the Park Ridge Parkway and somehow landed at this lovely place late in the evening. Carefully restored building. Great friendlyness. Wonderful hospitality. Excellent service. I couldn't possibly have been any luckier on that occation. Would love to come again sometime. Room Tip: Any room would be fine, they are all great

My fiance and I live in DC and wanted to spend a Saturday in the Shenandoahs. So we drove out to Sperryville, VA to spend a Friday night at Hopkins Ordinary. Sherri & Kevin were not only nice enough to check us in later than expected, but also made us reservations across the street. After a great night's sleep, we were treated to a healthy and delicious meal that was perfect for a day of hiking. Sherri & Kevin also have lots of knowledge on the area so don't hesitate to ask! The hospitality was impeccable. We will definitely go back!

My family and I enjoyed our one-night stay at this B and B. Four of us stayed in the cottage behind the main house. This space has one bedroom downstairs and 2 beds upstairs. There are wide wooden pine planks on the floor which allowed for noisy footsteps when guests headed for the bathroom during the night, but if you are a sound sleeper, that would be no problem. The beds were comfortable. Our host, Kevin, who brought us a breakfast of wonderful waffles, a variety of juices, loads of bacon, and fresh fruit, was filled with information about the area as we pumped him with questions. Sperryville is a great jumping-off location to investigate the surrounding areas and beautiful Virginia mountains. Nearby, one can visit vineyards, antique shops, orchards, take hikes, or just drive and explore. We shall return!!

Reviews of Hopkins Ordinary often mention the innkeepers' hospitality, including their homemade cookies and great breakfasts. We agree, but we also liked the charm of the inn itself, part of it built in 1820 and furnished appropriately with antiques. We spent late afternoons on the porch but at night built fires in the stove in our room. It was a perfect setting for a wonderful family weekend. We booked three rooms for ourselves and our grown children (in their 20's), and they liked it as much as we did.

Kevin & Sherri deliver the experience we all hope for when booking B&Bs. The Inn is spotlessly clean, with tasteful pieces of antique furniture, but not cluttered. From the homemade cookies on arrival, through breakfast muffins, omelettes, or waffles for breakfast. The attention to detail is perfect, particularly when it comes to advice on where to hike by day and eat at local hostelries by night.
They are truly part of the community and have vested time and energy in making not only their Inn function flawlessly, but the whole community of Sperryville.
We will be recommending this Inn to overseas visitors and anyone thinking of hiking in Shenandoah area. .

This was the best B & B ever - from excellent breakfasts with fruit and protein( and not just pastries )to personally tailored hiking advice, homemade cookies, welcoming tea and or wine....the list goes on. Sherri's detailed hike descriptions and her willingness to loan good trail maps were invaluable. We were grateful for terrific weather although the books and reading materials were very tempting and could have occupied many rainy days. Kevin and Sherri are definitely into being terrific hosts/innkeepers and it shows.

Hopkins Ordinary is more like "extraordinary." In addition to the 200 year old deeply historic house with a warm personality and vibe, are your (as Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice said) the hosts with the most, Kevin and Sherri.

These guys are surely the best. From Kevin's home brew (his Octoberfest was superb), their hiking and local sight expertise, their heart to serve simply is head and shoulders above the rest. They answered every question with grace and aplomb. Very patient and accommodating. Hats off to Hopkins Ordinary and the "hosts with the most."
