The innkeepers are warm & welcoming! The house is really neat built in 1840 it does take you back in time. Nothing like going to sleep on a crisp night with the fireplace going. The food is outstanding & they have a very nice wine selection. We started our Sunday with a full breakfast menu (included) & a Bloody Mary, one of the best I've tasted.

This is the second trip we made to the Lafayette Inn. We stayed in the Inn and ate at the restaurant both times. It is a wonderful historic building and the owners and staff were very attentive and made us feel very comfortable and welcome.
The area is absolutely beautiful and the setting is so peaceful and relaxing. A wonderful place to stay while touring and tasting at the Central Virginia wineries.

Beware of the strawberry soup. It tastes like melted ice cream. It was definitely too heavy to eat before a big meal. The salads were nothing special, the shrimp and grits were overwhelmed by the barbeque sauce they were drenched in. We should have dropped in for coffee and the bread pudding even though I drank all my coffee long before the dessert came. The waitress didn't offer a refill until we had already paid. We were underwhelmed at breakfast, too. It was nothing special....especially for the price.

This restaurant uniquely combines simplicity and sophistication. We had two very nice breakfasts and diner with fried oysters, seafood gumbo, pheasant/mushroom soup, crab cakes and lamb rack. The food was excellent! Bravo chef!!!!
