Two couples had lunch there on October 29. We all agreed that everything was perfect for us at the time. We all had sandwiches of one form or another, and all four were very well pleased with the result. The interior and seating are casual. The service was perfect.

This is a small but charming cafe with friendly service and delicious desserts. The Coffee could be stronger.

We've had lunch twice recently at the Pampered Palate, both times served in very good time even though it was the lunch hour. It's a favorite spot of locals and tourists looking for a light lunch menu in the middle of Staunton. Menu includes sandwiches, wraps, quiche, soups and salads, all generous and very tasty. Prices are quite reasonable, service is very good, and the place is charming. There are a couple of tables outside to enjoy lunch in good weather. Only drawbacks are stairs to the rest rooms on the second floor and no wheelchair access if needed. Definitely a good place for lunch, breakfast too.

On our way to Roanoke, my husband & I stopped here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and were so glad we tried it. He got the Blackfriars (hot pastrami) and I did a 'Build Your Own'. There were so many choices it was fun choosing what I wanted & I loved being able to get just half a sandwich with a choice of chips or fruit. Food was delicious & it looked like a local favorite, based on greetings we heard as people arrived. The kitchen was also quite busy with take-out orders. We will definitely return to try something else on the extensive menu!

We liked it so much that we went twice in the same week while traveling up and down Rt. 81. Everything was good, from the sandwiches to the soups to the salads to the quiche. Portions were a good size, so I'd even rate the value as high. My only complaint/warning is that its hours are a bit limited (no Sundays) and that you will likely have a short wait because it attracts a lot of "ladies who go to lunch" types.
