First of all, use your GPS to find this place. It isn't hard to find for locals, but it's a bit off the beaten path for tourists or out-of-towners. If you can find Gypsy Hill Park's duck pond, you are almost there. Also, their hours are limited to lunch!

The server was nice and she pointed out that all of their food is made fresh, including the house-made yogurt used for smoothies. The ordering bar/cash register stand is a pastry case, which had smallish cupcakes for $2 and a few apple strudels.

My friend and I ordered a salad with tajine-cooked chicken and fresh fruit as well as a turkey sandwich. They happily split both items so we could share, which was a nice gesture. I didn't really see any side dishes for the sandwiches, which was a little odd. The sandwiches come with some little vegetable garnish on the side, but I wouldn't call it a side dish.

Although the prices are actually low, adding 2 items at $6-$7 each makes for an expensive lunch for one person! But with 2 guys splitting these items and each having a cupcake, it was a nice portion for lunch. The salad was fresh and tasty, with moist chicken and berries on frisee greens. The star was the poppyseed salad dressing, which was tasty. The oil did separate out though, so it needs some kind of emulsifier.

The sandwich was a decent offering - not exciting, but it tasted good. They advertise the bread as being house-made, and it was a little denser than a regular wheat roll - but not really special.

The cupcakes were pretty good, even though they were very small. Not mini-sized, but small. I am used to paying $3 for a large cupcake so $2 for these was a fair price, but I prefer a larger size. But it was enough to get a sweet ending to the meal.

On the whole, I liked it enough to return.

A friend raved about the lunches at this small restaurant, so we had to try it. There's a nice selection of fresh foods and sandwiches, also cupcakes and small sweets and fruit drinks, all prepared in a very clean-looking kitchen area. It's an older storefront building, a bit hard to find off the main street, but conveniently close to Gypsy Hill Park. Not much parking except for the street area. The menu is not extensive, but everyone should find something they like. We tried the tangy chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat roll, which was very good, served with some small fresh veggies. The only criticism was that the plate, though pretty, was too small and we felt a bit messy with dropped crumbs on the table. Gluten-free items are available. There are baked goods for dessert. Eat in or take out, and a couple of outdoor tables if you want to eat outside. Service is friendly and fast. There's a piano and floor space, and though this place is only open during the day at present, perhaps they plan for evening meals eventually. We'll have to check back often.

This is a wonderful local restaurant and worth seeking it out. All the food is made fresh and they have daily special ice teas. The sandwich rolls are made fresh each day and are great! They have an awesome selection of "just right" size deserts. For those who love smoothies you can have your pick. For a relaxed - sit and stay awhile feeling with some great music - you need to visit Jimmy Anderson's Casual Gourmet. You will be glad you did. Oh and alot of the dinnerware was made by one of the owners - Carmen. Truly a lady of many talents.

Jimmy Anderson's closed down for about 18 months and underwent a major renovation. It is now open for breakfast (think juices/smoothies) and delicious lunches. We have been twice since they reopened and each time, the food has been wonderful. Great service, beautiful interior, street and lot parking.
