Osceola Mill Restaurant, B&B and Cabins

We celebrated our 34th anniversary by staying at the Osceola Mill B&B. It was a wonderful time and Kevin spoiled us with a wonderful dinner that night. Everything was perfect and delicious! The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the sound of the water falling outside the window. It was very relaxing. Kevin was very attentive and congenial. We hope to stay there again soon!

I was in the worlds worst mood over the shut down of Shenandoah NP but very sweet folks in the Lexington visitors center recommended this place. We loved it! Quiet, relaxing, we could hear the water from the mill- quite lovely! Breakfast was delicious - fresh pears and bananas with ice cream, omelettes with vegetables! And Kevin was so sweet to us and helpful - perfect recommendations on hiking and help with maps! I would torally recommend this for fun, romantic, relaxing, lovely get away!

My wife and I stayed for one night at the Mill, all the time wishing we could have stayed longer. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The most enjoyable part of our stay was Dinner in the attached restaurant. My wife is Vegan and the chef was able to prepare both dinner and breakfast especially for her dietary needs. If you are active duty or a veteran,, the Mill is one place you will not want to pass up. Thanks for a great visit.

We were in the area for a VW show and chose the Osceola Mill for our two night stay based on reviews here and a little knowledge of the area. It was conveniently located about mid-point between Staunton and Lexington and close to Rt 11. We arrived late on Friday and Kevin greeted us with a warm welcome. He is really into his autos and quickly noticed our VW parked outside. After a short discussion of the area and the Mill, we were shown to our room named, "The Corn Bin." My wife and I were offered a welcome glass of beer or wine. After discussing the approximate time we would be down for breakfast, we said out good night to Kevin and settled into our room. The room was clean and peaceful. It is close to the road, so you hear the occasional car travelling Rt 56, but it is not a problem. A waterfall structure is present that spills down on rocks below creates a peaceful sound that can be heard from the room. The Queen bed was comfortable and had plenty of blankets to keep the windows open.

Breakfast was excellent. Breakfast, was a choice of eggs, bacon, hash browns, omelette, pecan pancakes, or raspberry pancakes (or any combination thereof). A fruit sorbet was also part of the breakfast. The omelette was excellent as well as the pecan pancakes. Kevin was made plenty of suggestions of things to do after the car show. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for us in the afternoon, but still went to Lexington to check out the town, shops, and art galleries.

We chose to return to the mill for dinner. There are no expectations for dress, but the caliber of the food was what you might expect at any fine restaurant. There were so many good choices on the menu, but we decided on seafood. We were not disappointed. A+

Let there be no mistake, the Osceola Mill is very old and has a lot of character. Floors will creak and communication with the outside world is very limited (T.V., cell service, etc.) as one might expect. We wouldn't have had it any other way. We highly recommend this as a destination!

Room Tip: The Corn Bin room is closest to the road.

We stayed at the Osceola Mill B&B this past weekend. We stayed for one night in the cabin, which is the old Mill Store. Check in was at 3pm, which was perfect for us to drive in unrushed from Washington DC and then hike at nearby Crabtree Falls (a 1.7mile hike with moderate difficulty, it is not an easy hike but it is lovely). The cabin is a nice size and has a queen bed, a large pull out couch, a small hot tub, a toilet and shower closed off, and a sink area. The cabin was perfect for us (a couple and our 9 year old boy). There was no internet, and our AT&T phone service was poor; this was, in a way, ideal. There is a little fridge as well as a coffee maker.

The hosts were very gracious. They offered us a glass of wine/a beer/a soft drink when we arrived. We made our reservations for dinner, and then we explored a bit on our own. We wandered in the adjacent woods to the creek and river to fish (we brought our own poles).

Dinner was a delight. The food was delicious. They were very accommodating for our boy. We enjoyed appetizers of oysters Rockerfeller, crab stuffed mushrooms, and perfectly cooked bacon. Our salads were composed of very fresh produce and were tasty. Our entrees were delicious. He had the filet topped with blue cheese. I had the New York Strip Diane (sherry reduction with shallots and mushrooms). Our boy had filet medallions. The food was not particularly creative, but this was a beautiful thing; sometimes you grow tired of fusion food/ cutting edge cuisine, and you just want a perfectly cooked piece of meat alongside a perfect baked potato. We each ordered our meat cooked to a different level, and each was perfectly executed. Additionally, the service was very friendly and attentive without being the least bit overbearing.

We didn't have any problems with headlights or road noise. The beds were comfortable and we were cozy. In fact, we all slept straight thru til 8am, something we had not done in recent memory.

Breakfast was omelettes made of fresh eggs, fresh produce, yummy bacon, and fluffy blueberry pancakes. All of these were cooked with care.

Our host Dave was very unassuming and accommodating. He made great recommendations to us as to things we might enjoy in the area.

I would encourage you not to listen to the reviewer who was hypercritical of this wonderful B&B. We came to Osceola Mill because friends had been there a few times and recommended it to us because they loved it so much. We had a great time and will happily recommend it to anyone who seeks a break from city life for a weekend in the country.

It is just a great and relaxing place. Limited television and internet access. Lovely it is. And the sound of the water that ran the mill as it cascades is hypnotic. Nestled in a river valley, it feels like miles from everything.

Delightful setting. Did not stay in the B&B, but the restaurant was exceptional. Excellent menu with a variety of outstanding offerings. Would NEVER have thought of going to Vesuvius, Va for seafood, but it was easily as good as anything I've had dockside anywhere! Party of four and all of us raved about the quality of the food, the presentation, the ambiance. A simply wonderful evening. From salad to entree to dessert...all were excellent. Sorry it's taken us so long to find this gem - for it is a treasure. HIGHLY recommend!!!
