“okay- would return only with weekend price”
Reviewed 16 August 2008

Recent one night stay with family. Average overall. Quick rundown---Front desk- excellent /friendly helpful, etc. Room-- relatively small with no good views other than mall even from high floors. Room is modern but small, bathroom average. flat screen tv with fair cable--no disney channel a bummer for kids. Internet NOT included in room. Amazingly even business office/room on first floor has internet only for a fee!! Shameful in this day and age. location-- would not stay here unless price precludud being in DC. Sort of like jersey city to NY-- not the same although close proximity. Definitely not a DC city experience-- surrounded by malls only and gas stations. Even malls- though close- are not really walkable due to busy streets and depending on mall is about a .8 mile away (mall with ritz carlton, cheesecake factory..). Gift shop has a starbucks which is useful. Indoor pool okay- not kid friendly I would say and the pool closed down for short time during day for unknown reason. Lifeguard not particularly friendly to kids even when kidshappen to be the only ones in the water or at the poolside! Would return again only at bargain weekend rate and possibly not anyway as the ritz nearby is not much more on weekend-159$

  • Liked — good elevators
  • Disliked — not kid friendly, internet not included, business center with fee only internet, poor location..

I was asked by my employer to attend a weekend workshop in Vienna, Virginia. My employer a two nights' stay at the Vienna, Virginia, Marriott. The desk clerk asked for my credit card when I checked into the hotel, in case of incidental charges, of which there were none.

When I filed my expense report a couple of weeks later, I learned that the room charges from the Marriott were disallowed. Yes, the Marriott took money from Priceline, paid by my employer, and then charged my credit card for the stay. The Marriott got paid twice.

The charge is now in dispute, and I had to prove to my credit card company that my employer paid for the room. I've called the Marriott, and my employer has called the Marriott, but the hotel chain will not issue a refund. Nor, can I get anyone at the hotel to speak with me.

My credit card company tells me it can be up to 60 days before a refund is credited to my account.

Would I ever again stay at this or any other Marriott? -- absolutely not! My stay was at the end of May and it could take as long as three and a half months, mid-September, to have the charges removed from my credit card.

On top of the inconvenience of having to dispute these charges, and prove that the room was paid for by my employer, the Marriott has been unresponsive to a double-charged guest. It was the hotel's mistake, but I'm paying for it. The most irritating part of this experience is that the Marriott Customer Service will take a message, but the Marriott will not discuss this overcharge with me.

  • Disliked — Being double-charged, and not having the hotel management respond to my request for refund.

Stayed here for one night in July, meeting daughter's shuttle bus to summer camp. A great rate of $109 included breakfast for two ($35 value) and a $25 visa card for paying with visa. Very comfortable bed, clean room, nice pool and fitness center; complimentary shuttle to Tysons Corner mall (though its close enough to walk). Only downside was some noise from a wedding taking place that day. Highly recommend this Marriott!

I stay at this particular Marriott frequently when I travel to DC. I have many pros and only two cons:

Pros: Location is right off of 495, very convienent to Dulles airport, Bethesda, McLean, Fairfax, Herndon, Reston, Ballston. Not too bad a drive to DC if you have to go there in the morning, but I usually stay here when my work is in Northern Virginia as opposed to DC. The rooms are very nice and clean. The beds are heavenly. The pool area is indoors and really very wonderful, and the workout center overlooks the pool. The hotel is adjacent to the Tyson's Corner mall, and you could walk there from the hotel without crossing major roads (just the mall parking lot). That mall is a higher-end really nice mall with great restaurants. There is a large parking lot and garage at the hotel and parking is never a problem. I do not recall if they charge you for parking, but I am thinking that this particular Marriott may not. There is a nice Mexican restaurant across the street.

Cons: The restaurant in this hotel is WAY overpriced. It is one of those steakhouses where everything is ala carte, and everything is like $20 or more. I went there for dinner one night and when I saw the proces, I just ordered soup, which was in the range of $15.00. One morning I had breakfast there and it was over $20.00 for an omelette and coffee. I recommend avoiding eating there. Go over to the mall for a much better selection with better prices. The only other con is that the gift shop is really small and does not have much at all in it. But, you have a mall next door, so that is not really a problem here.

  • Liked — Location next to 495 and the mall
  • Disliked — The Restaurant

We were in town for a cheerleading competition at George Mason University and found the hotel very accomadating. My husband, my 7 year old daughter, my 10 month old son and I stayed in a King Room with a rollaway bed and a pack and play. It was perfect, they brought a fridge to our room as soon as we requested it, along with more towels. The hotel was very busy with cheerleaders and parents, but we had no problems. The pool was great my daugher loved it and it was warm enough to put my son in, they had so much fun! We had a wonderful, early dinner at Shula's, right in the hotel. We ordered room service the next morning for breakfast and it was great and arrived very promptly!!

Stayed here for my anniversary and had a nice time. The hotel is not the best, but it served our purposes. We got a good rate via hotel website, so I didn't expect much. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at Shula's.

The staff was friendly and the room was very clean. No complaints.

Reviewed 31 December 2007

We recently spent 2 nights at this hotel on our return to the D.C. area to catch a flight home. We decided to try the Tysons Corner Marriott as it was close to shopping, the city and National Airport. Upon arrival, we were told that the electronic key system was not working and we would need to be escorted to our room. We were told that the system would hopefully be fixed the next day. The room was recently renovated and was functional. We had requested a rollaway for our daughter and were disappointed to find that it was nothing more than a flimsy cot. Upon entering the room, we determined that we needed additional toiletries and towels as the room was set up for two, not three. It took some time for someone to bring us the items requested and when they did, they forgot half of what was requested. The next day, we went to the front desk to try to find out if we could get a key. Unfortunately, the system was not fixed and was not going to be fixed for another day or two. The escort service to our room became burdensome. Oftentimes, there was no one immediately available to take us to our room and we had to wait. It was quite annoying to say the least and the hotel made no effort to try to try to make the situation more palatable. Our last day at the hotel, we ate breakfast in the hotel as it came with our room. While it was a buffet breakfast, it was quite mediocre. Moreover, the staff in the dining room was inattentive and the hostess was rude. We had requested a specific table which was empty and she refused to seat us there. There are quite a number of other hotels in the Tysons Corner area and I would definitely recommend staying at one of them rather than the Marriott.
