Great place to stay as the location is on the major highway either south or to Virginia Beach. Hotel is clean and the rooms are nice. Close to restaurants. Great if you have a pet with you. Quiet parking lot to walk the pet.

Best location... Very centrally located and super convenient to the highway access to all of the metro areas in Tidewater. We always stay at La Quinta when visiting Virginia Beach. Great for families and still pet friendly, which is rare but very important to those of us who don't want to leave our furry friends at home.

Staff were friendly and professional, but don't expect a good experience. This LaQuinta hotel needs to seriously be overhauled with maintenance. Even just a good cleaning and regular cleaning would help tremendously. The type of filth there is the build up that comes after years of cleaning staff slacking on doing their jobs. The carpets obviously havent been cleaned in years. The large build up of scuff marks from shoes on the doors and wall ways in the halls is ridiculous. That could be cleaned up. If the cleaning staff did their job with quality products then the odors would take care of themselves. Also trash overflowing in the trash receptacles in the halls and roaches and ants crawling about was unacceptable. Clearly staff weren't even policing the place periodically to ensure things were kept tidy during a very busy weekend. The seal around the door was letting in light and noise from the hallway, that could be fixed with weather seal/stripping but instead it was a loose fit that rattled whenever people were running past the door. Neighboring guests were rather busy in the hallway most of the night, while I understand the hotel can't do much about noise guests make this was rather more traffic than I've seen in other very busy hotels. Also the bed seemed half broken in the middle, definitely worn out after years of abuse. It really needs new bedding too. The plumbing knobs didn't want to turn correctly, water temperature was fluctuating between scalding and icy cold, and the toilet was stupid slow to flush & didn't flush properly at all. Ventilation seemed nonexistent and the room was very very hot when we arrived. It took a long time for it to cool down. Very disappointed in this experience. I travel extensively on business and was very very disappointed in this la Quinta. Most of the la quinta's I've stayed in have been immaculately clean and acceptable. The breakfast wasn't well stocked nor did it have a good variety. The front desk girl had to maintain the kitchen too, so she wasn't able to keep up with it on a busy day. The whole hotel reeked of smoke, excessively slow. While I did choose a smoking room and have in the past (not always) I've never stayed in a hotel that smelled as badly as this one did. Everything I took in with me needed to be cleaned to remove the stench from it as it permeated it like a toxic clinging fume. If adequate ventilation and cleaning were done this wouldn't have been a problem - it's not been a problem in any other hotel I've ever stayed in. They needed to have an extra staff member to take care of the kitchen and dining areas. Options for bfast were slim, but for what was there quality was good. Unfortunately, this la Quinta disappointed beyond any other hotel brands I've stayed at in years. Rest assured I will not be staying in this one ever again.

Room Tip: I've stayed at the Redroof next door before. It's much cleaner and better maintained than th...

My daughter and I pulled in to stay and there were a whole lot of drunk transients wandering around. Walked into the hotel and there was a poice officer at the door. The hotel was dirty and noisy all night long. Spent $200 for the night to stay. Not worth it
