First off the views of the bay are phenomenal! Watching the sunset from our bed and watching the naval boats go by was absolutely awesome. The hotel was OK. The pillows on the beds were great and the beds were comfortable to sleep on as well. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and the only odd thing about the room is that one bedroom with two beds are right are at the front door and my kids complained about the hallway noise. The bay was wonderful to play in due to the minor waves and warm water. I ordered room service and my food arrived in 10 mins, hot, fresh and tasty. The staff was always willing to help and were always pleasant. The one downside to our stay is there was no stove/hot plate and there was no silverware or plates to reheat food in the microwave. There is nothing "special" about this hotel but everything was fine. It was clean, in a perfect location close to a wedding venue that we were there for and the front desk staff was especially friendly. The room set-up was one of the strangest I've seen. It's a suite but the bedroom portion is right at the entrance. You literally walk into the suite and the bed is right there. Then it continues into a suite area that has a balcony overlooking the bay. This room set-up presented a problem because the bed is RIGHT up against the hallway. We heard everyone leaving as we'll as the housekeeping staff discussing sheets as if they were in the room with us. Pretty much impossible to get good sleep. Maybe other rooms aren't set up this way but we thought it was odd. This hotel appeared to be much nicer than the others in the area.

Thank you for staying with us recently and also for your comments. While our room configuration may look odd, it’s by design that we made the living space closest to the balcony and beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay. That enables more people, more often, the time to enjoy the beautiful sunrise/sunsets. Thanks for staying with us and we do hope you’ll come back again and stay with us.

I absolutely love staying at the Va. Beach Resort Hotel!!! My family and I've stayed for several years now and we've never been dissatisfied. Wonderful location, offering more of a family atomosphere away from the boardwalk/oceanfront scene. Very clean, relaxing environment offering everything you should need! Great indoor/outdoor pool and the bay is perfect for our family with younger children to not have to fight the waves. We love the restaurant Tradewinds and is priced very reasonable. Great staff and a special thank you to Stacey Shiflet for always being so generous and maintaining an awesome hotel.... we wouldnt change a thing! Always looking forward to our next trip:)

Having recently moved to the Virginia Beach area, I am always looking for the best way to host family and friends when they come into town. This past weekend, a friend and I stayed here. We were very happy. The lay-out and the kitchenette allowed us to sit and enjoy each other's company as we overlooked the ocean. The private beach avoided the tourist traffic. Will definitely entertain visitors here again.

We traveled from all over the United States to end up at your beautiful establishment. Virginia, Maryland, Oklahom, North Carolina, Philadelphia, PA, Trout Run, PA, Williamsport PA. We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed early morning walks on the beach, volley ball games on the sand and children building sand castles. Many exotic rocks and shells were to be found during our morning walks. The hotel restaurant pulled no stops to ensure that we were taken care of. The buffet at breakful was delightful. The shuttle drivers were over accommodating taking us to the boardwalk. We were having a banquet and had all the men portray the "Five Heart Beats" singing "A heart is a house for love" we asked one of the male wait staff to join the men and he graciously did so. What a joy. The rooms were immaculate with an awesome bayside view. The maid staff was eager to serve whatever the need. The children were like fish in the water they did not want to get out of the pool. I have no doubt that my new fiance and I will be back, maybe for our honeymoon.

Room Tip: corner suites give the best view.

We enjoyed our staying at this hotel, we even extended our stay from one week to two weeks. The ocean front beach is better than the popular beach at most hotels located by the sandy, but quiet water, extended sandbar hundreds of feet into water, it makes an ideal place for families, little children to play in the ocean, because of the safety.

Hotels rooms are exceptionally spacious, all have wonderful balconies, frig, microwave oven, our room even has whirlpool bathtub'

we could see dolphins every morning not far from beach, it is simply wonderful to stay at the hotel, with calm ocean, the clean and quiet beach,,, without the craziness of the 'tourists mob" on the beach.

There isa Food Lion store right across the street! You can get all the goodies, food, wine, fruits, from there. Compare to staying in a hotel at the popular tourists stretch, you have to pay arm and leg for daily meals.

Would love to come back yo stay at this hotel.

Make no mistakes, this is a 3 star hotel. The rooms are simple, but spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful! THE RESTAURANT WAS THE BEST WE ATE AT ALL WEEKEND!! Our room was located on the 8th floor and even though we were not located on the beachfront side of the hotel our view was beautiful. We watched dolphins playing in the bay in the mornings from our balcony as we ate breakfast. The beach is beatiful and every morning we would walk about 1-1/2 miles of coast to the Atlantic Ocean. The only recommendation I would make is to have kitchen amenities available in the kitchen. It would have been great to have a full size coffee maker, plates and silverware, dish soap and kitchen towels available so I could prepare snacks and clean up afterward. Instead, I ran to the grocery store across the street and purchased paper plates, plastic silverware and used a bathroom washcloth to clean up. THE RESAURANT IS FABULOUS! The staff at the restaurant was very nice. The food was perfect! The atmosphere could not have been better. The veranda atmosphere was perfect for casual lunch in our beachwear. Inside, a little more formal with windows overlooking the beach so we could watch the sunset while having dinner. The food ranged from deep fried tuna fingers and burgers to seafood and steak entres at very reasonable prices. The She Crab Soup could'nt be better. I am a bit of a health food nut so it can be challenging to eat out at times, but there were several tasty entres that accomodated my tastes perfectly. Even though we were not effected, there was a mechanical issue at the hotel during our stay that caused some rooms to be flooded and several guests had to be moved and the restaurant needed to close. I was impressed by the way the hotel handled the situation very professionally, had a restoration team on site to clean up immediately through the night with very little disruption to the other guests, and the restaurant was open the next day. Even though our family is more accustomed to 4 star amenities we took a poll and decided we definitely want to come back to the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel again!
