We stayed at the boardwalk over Thanksgiving week. It was clean and spacious. We have 4 kids so the extra space really was nice. Great location, right on the board walk. You can drive on the boardwalk and night and there are Christmas decorations all lighted up along the boardwalk which was cool (for a fee of $12 for our Van). The staff at the hotel were really friendly. The pool was small but fine as was the hot tub. The fitness center has so real nice treadmills with TV's. You can walk to DQ, other resturants and shops which was convienent.
It made for a nice relaxing week.

Just got back from a weeks vacation in Virginia Beach. (Nov 16 to 23) It was our first time visiting the area. We stayed in room 806 which had a fantastic view of the ocean. The room was spacious and very nicely decorated. The place is going under renovations and I believe we got one of the newer rooms. The windows in the room are fantastic for they are floor to ceiling in the main room and also pretty big in the bedroom. I could easily lay in my bed and see the ocean. We enjoyed watching dolphins in the morning while having coffee on the balcony and viewing the beautiful full moon on the ocean at night. The staff were all very friendly and addressed anything we needed very quickly. The only down side is that we wished the Rock Fish restaurant in our building was opened. I hear this restaurant is really good but it closes down for the slow season. There are still lots of restaurants within walking distance but it would of been nice to have something in our building. After a day of exploring and walking the beautiful sandy beach and boardwalk you are not always excited about doing more walking.

I agree that it would be great if Rockfish were open in off season; we certainly miss that wonderful food in the winter time! Try us again between April and October and you will be able to enjoy the awesome crabcakes and fresh seafood and all the other great food Rockfish has to offer! Thanks again for your comments! We hope to see you again very soon!

We rented a one bedroom suite for the week. Our unit is one of the upgraded ones and is very very nice. Furniture is in perfect condition, bed is very comfortable. Our unit overlooks the beach and has a little deck (unfortunately it's too cold to sit outside!) Kitchen has a good supply of pots/pans etc. They have the most awesome thick, soft towels. I'm in love with them! The unit was very very clean except that the kitchen floor wasn't swept, and in one of the cabinets the glasses are sticking to the shelf, so they needed to be washed before using.

There are laundry facilities, but not in the unit - you have to go to a different floor. There is also a very nice pool and hot tub, along with a fitness center onsite.

There is a restaurant (Rockfish) on the premises, which we have not yet been to. There's also a ton of places within walking distance. It's in a great location within Virginia Beach. They also have plenty of parking.

We'd definitely come back!

Four of us decided to rent a suite at Boardwalk in order to be able to hang out together without going back and forth from hotel rooms. This place was like a small apartment. Complete with 1 1/2 kitchens and two baths. Great balcony with an awesome view and wonderful extras. The four of us were able to live together for 4 days without getting into each others space. The kitchen had plenty of cookware and a few appliances. Housekeeping made sure we had clean kitchen towels every day.

The concierge (we had Alex) was awesome and gave us the information we needed to make this trip spectacular. Definitely plan on bringing the family back asap so we can experience this again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the ocean. If you get a suite with a kitchen, plan a complete menu down to the s...

I have stayed at this resort hotel for the past 8 years and with the new renovations to the interior spaces as well as the indoor pool area, the resort is beautiful, inside and out. It has always been the most beautiful beach side setting with its well maintained grounds and the outside sitting area for the hotel's restaurant. The majority of the room accommodations are mostly for families of 4 or less. The rooms will accommodate 6, but with a loss of privacy. Some of the two bedroom suites will easily accommodate 6 or more. During this last stay, my wife and I noticed that not a single employee passed us in the halls or hotel rooms without speaking to us and asking if we needed any assistance. Everyone went out of their way to be pleasant and accommodating.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the early bird specials at the in-house restaurant...very delicious and well sort...

We stayed here for our annual summer vacation. This was the first time we had stayed at this location. I was a little disappointed by the room layout. We were staying with two different families and it would have been nice if the balcony were off of the living area instead of the bedroom. It would have made it a little easier for our party.
I loved the full kitchen and the view that we had from our 6th floor room. There was just enough room for our 4 adults and 4 small children. We had a little bit of miscommunication with the front desk regarding a bed for our toddler. They sent us a cot and then charged us for it, when we thought it was free for toddlers to have a bed. If this is your situation be sure to ask for a pack and play as this is what is free and not the cot.
The thing I really don't like about staying at time shares is the way they try and get you to buy their product. Sure they offer you something free for your time, but is it really worth it, especially when they give you these awful looks when you decided not to purchase. When you are offering something free just for taking a tour, you have to assume that most of the people want just the free thing for a bit of their time. It's sad to say but it is true. They hate to take no for an answer. And when no is the answer, they are quick to dismiss you when just a few minutes before they were sharing family stories and pictures.

Other than that our stay was good and the staff was friendly. If your staying as part of a time share be prepared to wash your own towels and make your own bed because the only way you will get these services is if you pay for them.

Unit Features: Unit 506 is an oceanfront one bedroom that accommodates up to six. I believe it would be okay for six if it was a family unit with children that could sleep in the bedroom with Mom and Dad. For some privacy, it would be better suited for four. However, with the one bath being open to the bedroom, this makes it difficult for two couples that may want privacy. A simple fix would have been a door separating the bedroom from the sinks and shower. The toilet is separate, which has a door on either side for privacy and access. The unit has a full kitchen and had everything needed. The counter tops, cabinets and flooring are all extremely basic and cheap looking. I was staying in a newly renovated unit. The furnishings and carpeting, as well as wall paper, fixtures and decorative features were nice and attractive. I loved the wrap around sofa that could comfortably accommodate four for seating and there was a nice overstuffed chair. The dining area had three chairs and booth seating for three with a large glass topped table. There would be plenty of room for socializing, playing games and watching TV in the unit for up to six. There was a combination shower/Jacuzzi tub with a sink and vanity area. The bedroom had a queen size bed, two closets, chest of drawers and a couple of night stands. There is a sleep sofa in the bedroom that would accommodate two. There are nice large flat screen TVs in both the living area and bedroom. There was no hair dryer in the unit. A private oceanfront balcony will accommodate up to two with a small table and two chairs. The living area has a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling window with curtains and a shade. Upon sunrise, both the living area and bedroom are full of light. The shades on the windows, even closed, allow light in. The curtains do not go past the shade. WIFI was free in the unit and lobby. It worked well.

Condition of Unit and Property: Both the unit and the property are in beautiful condition and well-maintained. The ocean-side landscaping is very attractive and clean.

Any problems encountered such as check-in problems, room changes, etc.: No problems were encountered during my brief stay (3 nights).

Planned Resort Activities such as welcome parties, barbecues, kid programs, and outings: There were some activities posted. Some activities were at other Gold Key properties at the oceanfront. I did not attend any activities during my stay.

Resort Amenities: The resort has a great fitness room, indoor pool, hot tub and on-site restaurant (Rockfish) with indoor and outdoor dining. Parking is available on-site for one vehicle only. The resort does not offer any additional paid parking. The closest overnight parking garage is a at 9th Street.

Staff Friendliness and Responsiveness: All staff members encountered during my stay were very helpful and friendly.

Convenience to Area Attractions: This resort is centrally located on the boardwalk at 16th Street. It is within walking distance of music stages, fishing pier, restaurants, beach shopping and attractions. There is a small amusement area nearby. The location is great. The Boardwalk is a hub of activity.

Additional fees assessed: There were no additional fees charged. Cleaning, tidying or towel exchange was a separate charge. No charge for laundry use.

Suitability of Resort for couples, families, relaxing, partying, etc.: This would be a great resort for any group. It's proximity allows for many activities for any age group looking for various diversions. It was great for just relaxing, riding my bike, and enjoying the beach. September is a great time of year to be in Virginia Beach.

Room Tip: Not all units are oceanfront. Units ending in 01-07 are oceanfront.

Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for our hotel! My staff and I are so thrilled that we could exceed your expectations! Service and cleanliness are what we take pride in, and the fact that we have a great location and fully appointed suites with full kitchens doesn't hurt either! I have shared with our staff that you were very happy with their service and they were delighted. The set-up of the shower area is an open floor plan with the bedroom; however, we do offer privacy curtains upon request for our guests who want that area closed off.
Additionally, we do offer hair dryers in the units (some have it on the wall and other units have a larger hair dryer in the vanity drawer). If you did not have one, it may have been removed by a previous guest and we neglected to replace it prior to your check-in. We apologize for that and look forward to your next visit with us! Thank you again for your wonderful comments!
