“Best place to camp in Virginia Beach! Free Beach Parking Included!”
Reviewed 4 July 2014 via mobile

We were so happy to find this place last year and have made it an annual tradition to come and stay here. Not only is the location phenomenal (5 min from beach), staff is friendly here and there is tons to do at the
campground itself. We use the tent sites but they have cabins and RV sites. The bathhouses are cleaned almost hourly and are very decent and comfortable. The convenience store is super convenient and they sell everything (firewood, beer, snacks, ice cream etc). They often have themed weekends which is
fun for those that want to participate. The price is right and I wouldn't look further! They even have FREE beach parking in a designated lot...otherwise you'd pay $20/day!

My son turned 11 on 6/23 and for most of the past 11 years our extended family has camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in an array of RVs, pop-ups and tents. It's a nice campground where families can meet, cook together, ride bikes together, party at the pool together and travel to the beach / boardwalk via shuttle together. I have a public shower phobia but these are normally clean. The pool is always clean, we've never had problems with party goers, pets are allowed and there are multiples stores, pools and a nice grille that also serves great ice cream. The food mart just outside of the campground has been upgraded and has a very nice area in which to sit and eat your made to order breakfast and lunch items while enjoying the TV, a game of billiards or just the A/C.

This June some of the drainage ditches needed care. It appeared as the leaves had been raked into them and left to rot (sloughing skin is what it looked like). There were frogs and minnows living in the ditches so water has been standing for quite some time. My husband shared with management that this needed tending to. We've never noticed it before but we've never stayed in the back of the park before. It left me concerned about mosquitoes and/or snakes but I never saw either one.

My son looks forward to our time here every year and it's long been a family tradition.

Room Tip: I don't like the spots closest to the front but that's because I have children out on their...

We stayed in the premium supersites this time which were extremely nice. We've stayed in other parts of the park and with a 38 foot motorhome always felt a little cramped. This place has great tent sites very nice pools good snack bars and fabulous beach shuttles. Good variety of entertainment too. If you go to bed early you do not want a site near the main pool because of the good but noisy music they have each night. The free Wi-Fi is almost nonexistent or slower than dial-up.

My family and I booked a three day stay at this campground and had a blast. We were a bit leery based upon some comments we had seen online but everything we experienced was terrific. The staff was very attentive, the children had a blast with the activities and the best part was that we could go to the beach every day, park for free and then return in the evening for some wildly awesome dancing and entertainment by the main pool. My children had such a great time I had to promise to come at least once a year! Lots of pools and pet friendly too!

Overall, this campground is above the average because of the pools, snack bar, paved roads, friendly staff, and the super sites. The regular sites are cramped and the dirt floor makes them a little too rustic for me, but there are paved super sites. The super sites are very pretty and comfortable BUT are surrounded by old, abandoned campers. Unless you're in the middle of the super site section, your view is of old campers. The super site section would be perfect if the storage was moved out of sight.... especially considering they are the same price as Disney's Fort Wildness sites. I would come back here, but I'd be careful to request a site in the center of the super site section.... and I wouldn't stay in the regular sites.

Room Tip: Ask for a super site in the center of that section.

Been here before but park is starting to show its age. Heavy rain caused some minor street flooding. Big rig sites are tight and some difficulty getting satellite signal. Premimum sites very nice but you pay for it. Disney Fort Wilderness is better deal. Convienient shittle bus from campground and free parking at private lot at beach is nice. People drive way too fast. Lots of kids. Major fault is smoking and alcohol consumption permitted in pool areas.

We always enjoy visiting the Holiday Trav-L-Park. We have been camping here for many years, several times each year. We rarely have any problems but if there is excess noise after 11 pm a quick call to security fixes it. They have 2 little camp stores if you need a snack, supplies or gifts. The trolley runs very regularly to take you to the beach and back without worrying about parking. If it is a major holiday, expect it to be very crowded and book early. I have had family stay in the cabins and they were happy there as well. This is our home away from home and we can't wait to return.
