“Run To The Dolphin Run”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2010

Prior to our July trip to Virginia Beach I read reviews on Trip Advisor and was somewhat concerned about our upcoming stay there. I certainly need not have been. Our family is quite experienced at travel and I can say without a doubt that our stay at Dolphin Run was one of the most trouble free, relaxing and enjoyable trips we've ever made to Virginia Beach...and we've made many. Our room was not ready when we arrived, however, we arrived very early and the employees, especially the manager, Tina, went out of their way to accomodate us and make us comfortable for the short time we had to wait. Any questions we had were answered immediately and any problems that arose, and there were very few, were immediately resolved. Our room was clean, bright and inviting and I would not stay anywhere else on any return trip. The staff was attentive and went out of their way to make sure our stay was a relaxing and memorable one. I highly recommend Dolphin Run for anyone travelling to VA Beach. Remember folks, it's a condo, not a motel room. Stay there. You'll love it.

We were excited to go to Virginia Beach, having heard so much about the location and activities, and googled Dolphin Run.
We arranged the trip through by calling the front desk, and a lady named Tina arranged all the arrangements we did have a special request of a handicap accessible suite, Tina advised us that the day we wanted to come which was June 5 for 7 days would not be available for the handicap access because of the renovations that will be happening and if we waited a week then we could get a fully renovated handicap accessible suite.
We waited a week and arrived, and let me tell you that it was fully not what we expect suite 707 had old carpets rolled up, paint cans in the closets, the drapes didn't work overall the suite was renovated with new tiling on the floor, this condo suite was not handicap accessible at all, just because a wheelchair can pass through a door way does not make it a handicap accessible suite. When Tina @ the front desk advised that there was WiFi available in the building, she failed to mention that there wasn't any WIFI in the suite, just only in the lobby, so even if you are on vacation and you want to check your email for work purposes good luck you need to bring all your equipment to the lobby, which is a complete joke at this day and age. Tina also said" that the gym was State of the art equipment, trust me it was older than my grandparents and the stench from the gym was horrendous, almost as though a dead animal was there.
The swimming pool was told that it was an outdoor pool, a retractable roof does not mean that is is outdoor.
Tina also told us about the great sun deck which was never opened it was the concrete slab roof, and good luck trying to get up there and lay out it is a complete pig pen.
When we expressed our concerns to Tina @ the front desk she would roll her eyes and say we will get to it when she has people to work on it.
We were just upset over the misrepresentation of the Condo, and for the price that we paid our condo suite was not ready for rental, nor a handicap accessible suite, and if that was told then we would have had the option to book somewhere else, but because of that the trip overall was ruined.
So as for Dolphin Run Condos, I would stay away, there are clearly other places to stay @ virginia beach.

I started renting timeshares about 5 years ago and have stayed in many condos. I must say that for the price Dolphin Run was the best place to stay by far!!! The location simply can not be beat. The view and the beach was perfect. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well decorated. Everything we could need was in the room. there was many more items than stated on Dolphin Run's website. As their website states, you do have to bring your own paper products and cleaning supplys from home. ( I suppose this is how they keep rates so cheap) I actually prefer my own paper products and supplys over the cheap ones found in most condo rentals. All beach attractions, restaurants, stores, and activitys were in walking distance. I can't wait to return. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!

The unit was so clearn, very nice furniture and a great view and we have been going to the same unit for over 6 years unit 200 it is so neat we do not need anything just walk up flight of stairs and you are there or you can take the elevator. Thanks for a great time.

I just returned from a weeks stay at Dolphin Run. We had an AWESOME time. We are a family of 5 (2 adults and three teens ages 18, 16 and 12) It's right on the boardwalk so you are close to everything, but it's down towards the end of the boardwalk so it's a little more secluded too. The beach wasn't too crowded, we got into our room an hour early, we were able to walk to so many things, we could see the kids on the beach from our balcony and we had a GREAT TIME!

Our condo was a bit smaller than one we had rented in N Carolina, and I would have preferred the laundry facilities IN our unit but other than that.....our stay was wonderful.

A great family vacation spot and we plan to return in the future!

  • Liked — Lots of things to do in the area, awesome beach, great view from room, pool and hot tub on site,
  • Disliked — I would have like laundry facilities in our unit.

I found the Dolphin Run condos on the internet and booked a week in July. Everything was as advertised, and more! The ocean view from all rooms is spectacular, especially the sunrises! I had a hard time closing the windows; enjoyed the sounds of the surf, the views of the dolphins, the surfers. Being on the southern end of the boardwalk was a plus; quiet but within walking distance of the central boardwalk. It was nice to head to the beach whenever we wanted. I especially appreciated getting up each day for a 5 mile run on the 2.5 mile boardwalk) and the rest of the family enjoyed the walks.

The rooms were clean; plenty of quality furniture, kitchen small, but adequate, beds comfy, and we all slept great! A bonus - we had Wi-Fi! (although we were told only in the lobby or top floor; my understanding is all units don't have routers yet).

The staff was friendly, and all was as expected. A very restful, enjoyable vacation.

We arrived at 4pm on Sat. and needed to wait an hour and fifteen minutes until our room was ready. Very inconvenient considering we traveled from NJ. with an 81 year old grandmom with us! We waited 10 more minutes to get an elevator to travel up to the 11th floor. (did I mention that there are only 2 elevators in the building to cover 14 floors, and hundreds of guests?) Oh yes, and you guessed it, we got stuck in the elevator with grandma. Again, there were too many inconveniences. I really believed that we would have our own washer and dryer in our condo, but there were washers and dryers on every floor, but of course, our dryer on the 11th floor did not work, we were traveling from floor to floor with wet laundry. Clean linens were stained, rugs were stained, and it just wasn't worth all that money.
