Description: It was twenty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play..." and it was almost thirty four years ago today when the bands began to play, right here at Abbey Road. Owner Bill Dillon has been bringing the best in great food and live entertainment to the residents and visitors of Tidewater since 1982. Our fresh seafood, beef, and pasta dishes are summed up by The Virginian Pilot's reviews: "Abbey Road Leads Diners to a Satisfying Evening (1983)" and "Abbey Road is a great pub in the midst of a tourist location. For locals it is well worth the trip any time of the year (2008)." Hampton Road's Port Folio Magazine says: "Abbey Road is the Best Acoustic Venue in Tidewater, offering the best and the most variety..." After three years in the food service industry Bill decided in the fall of 1982 to open his own restaurant in the resort area of Virginia Beach. Heavily influenced by the Beatles when growing up, thanks to his two older sisters who listened to their records all the time, he decided to name it 'Abbey Road' after the last album the Beatles recorded (although 'Let It Be' was the last released) before they split up in 1970 (thanks, Yoko). Many national, regional, and local musicians have performed at Abbey Road since 1982, including: Richie Havens - the man who opened Woodstock, Ronee Blakely - toured with Bob Dylan, Livingston Taylor - James' brother, The Ventures -theme from Hawaii Five-O, Rick Roberts of Firefall, - wrote & sang many of their #1 hits, Robert Hunter of The Grateful Dead, Robbin Thompson & The Robbin Thompson Band, Gove Scrivener, Lewis McGehee - toured with Bruce Hornsby, Lisa Noel, Mike Proffit & The Mike Proffitt Band, David Petretto, Keller Williams, Suzy & The Naturals, Catapult, T.K. Llegs, Acoustic Ceiling, Chuck 'Coyote' Larson & Robbie House & Norman Harrell of Snuff, and many, many more...

We were so happy wih the food and staff. We ate there our last day at VA Beach. The server we had (Bridget) was great. She made sure we had everything we needed and even made sure the key lime pie was the color we wanted (being from Florida I am very particular that it is a light yellow due to the correct color of the lime juice). The portions were appropriate for the price. We will definitely eat here again.

So the food was excellent and the atmosphere was cool, however they could pay more attention to service. After our food arrived we saw no one until we finally had to ask for our check. Once the waitress brought the check it was over 10 mins til she came back to get it. We had no refills and had been done eating for at least 20 minutes and were just ready to get out of there.

A group of eight of us ate here the night before the Shamrock Half Marathon. Being that it was St. Patrick's Day weekend, I expected it to be full of early, drunken revelers, but was very, very happy that was not the case. The menu is extensive and the beer list is great! The food was served quickly, wait staff did not hover, and wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great, cooked to perfection and filling. The pasta dishes are very good and the perfect runner friendly carb loading food for the night before a long distance race! We had great food, a lot of fun and will be back next year. My only complaint was we made the reservation for eight, and were told it was no problem, but they would have to seat us at back to back booths instead of together at a table. With so many runners in town, that's ok. However, the back to back booth memo was never given to another waitress who proceeded to sit two people at one of the booths supposedly reserved for us. We ended up having to move closer to the bar and take over two tall bar tables. On one hand, it was nice because we could all talk to each other that way, but the location near the bar and front door made it difficult to hear anything.

My wife had a wonderful blackened Maui Maui sandwich with a perfect baked potato, I had a great French onion soup and Jamaican jerk chicken salad, we had nothing bad to say about anything. Very nice, wish we had more time to bring friends...

I can never say enough about Abbey Road... everything there is fantastic. The nostalgia, the food, the staff... its fabulous.

Try the fish tacos... they are a great not-to-heavy delight, but expect tons of food on your plate.
