Four Sails is one of the older time shares and it is very very small. The parking is horrible. Only a small number of spaces on the first floor and there are posts between all the spaces. It is very difficult to get your car in the space without hitting a post. If you need to go to a higher level there is only one ramp for both up and down.

If you get an end unit your bedroom does not face the ocean and does face the street. This means the end units only have half as much balcony space on the ocean. There are also no screens on the balconies and management wants you to keep doors closed at all times due to the bugs. You can never hear the oceans when you are in your room. We also had a very musty smell in our room.

There is only one small elevator to serve all 11 floors. You can count on having to wait for the elevator.

On the plus side very there was very good housekeeping service. We were there on a time share week and they cleaned your entire room once per week but they came in every day with fresh towels and picked up the trash.

This is a great location with a great view. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. Folks at the front desk were friendly and helpful. All in all not a bad place to stay however they definitely need to do some updating.

Room Tip: Do not get an end room as the bedrooms do not face the ocean

Thank you Trip Advisor for your review section. We chose this hotel based on the reviews and feedback posted on the website. We were not disappointed.

The outer building itself: not actually impressive when compared to the buildings on its left and right.

The hotel lobby: Reminds me of a motel in Niagara Falls. However this hotel has a computer with internet access and a printer. Perfect for checking e-mail, Facebook and printing your board pass if appropriate.

Restaurant: sufficient. good service, good food, feels like a local diner

Soda machine: $1.25 for a 20 oz. bottle. Not bad for a vending machine. I've been other places and a bottle/can was $2.00

Exercise room: one of every machine type to provide a basic workout. Also has a sauna. I use d the sauna one day and it felt so good.

Pool: it is small but it's functional.

Room: It's a suite. I think they all are. Perfect boardwalk and ocean view. Functional kitchen with everything you need to re-heat meals or make meals from scratch. There is a 24-hour grocery store (Teeter Harris) on Arctic and 28, which is is two blocks over and 4 blocks. The store has excellent prices. Seriously. We grocery shopped there and bought seafood to take back home.

My favorite room feature: 2-person jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. LOVED IT. I am emphasizing this because we also visited Ocean Beach Club (which is marketed as fancier and is in some aspects) HOWEVER Four Sails has the largest jacuzzi (if this matters to you).

Balcony: Long, entire length of suite. Nice!

Side note observation not related to Four Sails: Gold Key Resort reigns on Atlantic Avenue. If someone approaches you on the street with helpful advice and freebies, the person is likely with Gold Key and wants you to go to a timeshare presentation. This is not a bad thing and can be advantageous to you.

Another side note: There's a lot of good food in the area but since you are in Virginia Beach, enjoy the seafood. If you're not a seafood person and just enjoy American fastfood, your traditional chains are on Pacific avenue.

Room Tip: I think they all face the ocean. Other reviews said to avoid the floor with the pool (4th floor) du...

My husband and I, along with our two grandsons, have stayed at Four Sails Resort several times before, and we have always enjoyed the cleanliness of the unit and pool in addition to the proximity to the Boardwalk. We do think the one-bedroom units are a bit small for us and two growing boys, so I was pleasantly surprised when I reserved a room for two nights and was told that we would need to move from a one-bedroom unit to a two-bedroom unit for the second night. In spite of the trouble involved in moving, I agreed, since I knew two-bedroom units were seldom rented for one night and were very large and comfortable. Predictably, considering the title of this review, there was a problem. We were moved to a different unit all right, but it was exactly like the first one with only one bedroom. In the process we had wasted several hours of beach time waiting around for the second unit to be ready, so I was not a happy camper. Somehow, a desk clerk who had conveniently quit the same day he took my reservation had promised us a room that had no vacancy. The lady at the desk told me over and over that she was sorry, but there was simply a mistake that she could not correct. I tentatively decided to just check out and drive to the Richmond area, since the boys wanted to go to Kings Dominion anyhow. Another gentleman behind the counter then told me that he might be able to solve the problem. Someone who owned one of the penthouse two-bedroom units had checked out early. He would call the owner and ask permission to rent it to us for one night. We were able to rent it, and we were given a considerable discount for our inconvenience. I truly appreciate the effort of Four Sails to solve a very difficult problem. I think the ability to keep a customer happy when things aren't going well is the true test of quality customer service. We thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our stay, and the boys had plenty of room to spread out. Four Sails retained a repeat guest, and everyone left happy. We'll be back.

Great hotel, great location! It has everything you need in the kitchen and pelnty of towels on the bathroom! The pool area is ok, just wish they had windows that open to bring in some fresh air. Also try to ask for a room away from the pool area so you don't hear the noise! Beside from that my only complain would be that in the night time the balconies get so full of bugs you can't enjoy the outdoors, of course this is not the hotel's issue but maybe adding a net door on the balcony would be great, because after all when we go to the shore there is nothing better then being able to hear the sounds of the ocean, but you can't if your going to have your room full of bugs! Besides from that would stay here again in a heart beat! Ah and the parcking is indee very hard if yuor not an experience driver, but we're from New York so it was ok with hubby.

Room Tip: Away from the pool and if you don't want to deal with the only elevator they have take a low flo...

We have had a time share here for years now....great place...lots of upgrades recently...nothing better than looking our your window and seeing a school of dolphins! You can rent a bike and ride on the boardwalk if you like...lots of things to see and do up and down...several bars if you like....great to have a kitchenette to save some money! And the bathtub is huge (at least in our timeshare) There is a pool to use and they play bingo sometimes for prizes! Also plenty of shops and a starbucks close! YAY! Highly recomment this place!

I really enjoyed staying here. We had a great deal because it was off season. The apartment was really convenient. There was a small, fully equipped kitchen with everything from wine glasses to an electric can opener and oven. There was a pleasant sitting area with Tv, a great bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and a good size bedroom -we went for a king. The balcony had a great view. The people running the place also seemed really nice. People should note that this is a time share property but thee are no high pressure sales tactics. There are some group activities at the place whee I think they may give a sales presebtation at the end, but these are completely optional. The decorum is a bit seventies but the fixtures and fittings are new. Altogether it was a great place to stay for this area. A hidden gem especially for the deal we had.
