“Great place to recharge your batteries”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

I cannot say enough nice things about the Black Horse Inn. It enjoys an idyllic setting less than an hour from NoVA; so much so that it feels like a different world. The owner took great care in remodeling the house, and has a real gem in Benjamin, the day-to-day Jack of All Trades at Black Horse Inn. He happily led us on a tour of the property, including all the unoccupied rooms, and the extensive and well-maintained grounds. We met the horses, who were happy to have a nuzzle, and the "guard cat" Luray, who could not have been friendlier. A lot of B&B's that are in wine country offer wine and snacks, but even that aspect of our stay was very well thought out. There was white, red, port, sherry, and plates in the fridge with nice crackers, several kinds of cheese, and fruit. Every set of visitors enjoyed them while we were there.
We stayed in the Jeffersonian room (I'm a big history buff) and liked that it wasn't too feminine or masculine. I woke up fairly early, and chose to stroll around the grounds with my coffee, and was only mildly offended when the horses completely ignored me (kidding- Ben later informed me that it was because I did not come bearing food :) ). The breakfast was great- the epitome of southern hospitality.
My husband and I came here for our 10th anniversary, so the $275/night for our room was not too much for us. It was worth every penny. Most of the visitors were from within an hour's drive of the place, which just shows how fabulous it is. Beautiful place to have a wedding, and they even have extra stables for horses. There is plenty to do nearby, also. Warrenton has a lot of quirky shops, great restaurants, and several wineries with 10 minutes of Black Horse Inn. Even though we were there for one night, we left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Room Tip: Every room has different decor- just find what speaks to you!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Inn. We had a fantastic time. The grounds are so spectacular with a terrace (to drink the champange we brought with us) stables that were cleaner than some hotels I have stayed in, and beautiful flowers and trees surrounding the Inn. Thee Inn manager treated us likewe were old friends. The breakfast was gormet, and the nightly wine, cheese and fruit plate was a very nice. The horses on the property and so gentle and beauful. One of the unique things about the Inn, is that although it is relatively close to the town of Warrenton, it is surrounded by such gorgeos rolling hills that it feels like you are in the middle of the Virgina country side. We will definitely be back. This is one of our favorite places in Virginia by far.

Room Tip: all rooms are equally beautiful and comfortable.

Great get-a-way!!!! Enjoyed out stay!!!! Our son who lives in Wash DC found this place for us and we celebrated our 45th anniversary there. We wanted something with some history and character and this was the place!!!!!! We LOVED it and found it romantic, very unique, comfortable, had a delicious breakfast, enjoyed wine and snacks, beautiful atmosphere, friendly owner and workers, beautiful horses roaming the pastures, inviting and spacious outdoors which we and our son and his wife and their 2 dogs were free to explore. Recommend it highly.

My daughter was married at the Black Horse Inn last month. We hired the entire place for the weekend. Although it's only 30-45 minutes from Dulles airport and a 5-minute drive from Warrenton's main street, the rural equestrian setting is bucolic: rolling hills, wide open spaces, and horses running in the fields, all overlooked by the impeccably-maIntained antebellum manor house.

The Inn's service during the wedding weekend was superb. Rain prevented the planned outdoor ceremony, but the Inn's staff had already prepared back-up facilities in the Inn's cozy reception hall, in a well-appointed outbuilding with beautiful country views and a roaring fireplace. The transition of the ceremony from outdoor to indoor was seamless. The late-night post-wedding 'after-party' in the main house capped a perfect wedding day.

Although we came to the Inn for its beautiful country location and manor house, the service provided by the owner and staff is what really made the experience special.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are elegant, comfortable, well-appointed, and clean.

The grounds were maintained perfectly, the 1850's-era Inn was clean, well appointed, and spacious with plenty of parking for cars, as well as horses, should you arrive so. The Inn and rooms all furnished in a Virginia hunt country theme, all quite comfortable. There were afternoon offerings of wines, sherry and cheeses left for the guests to enjoy as each group arrived. The Inn Owner, Lynn, couldn't have been more gracious and helpful to make last minute rearrangements for what was to be a large outdoor wedding in rainy, blustery weather with great attention to detail. We moved it indoors to a large venue perfect for ceremony, dinner and reception. Lynn even personally dried and groomed our 110 lb Great Pyrennese dog moments before the wedding and gave him a sheltered golf cart ride to the venue so that he could look his best going down the aisle with the bridesmaids and standing with the groomsmen. Thanks for a great and memorable experience!

We loved the Black Horse Inn the first time we visited. The rooms and grounds are beautiful and relaxing. You can feel the history of the estate in the middle of Virginia hunt country. We chose the Black Horse for our wedding 10 years ago because we wanted to join our lives someplace special. Returning now on our anniversary the estate is as beautiful as ever and it brought back every wonderful moment. Our history had joined the house and it will forever be a special place to us. We hope to return many times to enjoy the inn and the surrounding wineries, views, and restaurants. Thank you to Lynn for bringing the Black Horse Inn to life and her staff for keeping it a beautiful and welcoming place to visit, a home in hunt country.

My son's wedding was here last week. First of all, the grounds are absolutely idyllic. Rolling hills, a stable with horses... it is absolutely gorgeous. The inn itself is quite beautifully appointed and well maintained. The rooms are lovely and the atmosphere is warm and comfortable, with fireplaces and porches -- it truly is a beautiful location. For a wedding venue, you absolutely could not go wrong staying here. It was like having a huge, beautiful home where everyone could be comfortable and relaxed. It was PERFECT. The staff was lovely and very accommodating. Realize that we were here in January when it was extremely COLD. I can only imagine how much more beautiful this place would be in the spring, summer or fall. Gorgeous.
