This was a second visit. It was better than I remember. The service from the time you pull up for valet, walk through to your table until the time you leave is unmatched. They make you feel like the only guest they have.

I cannot say enough about the food. The presentations are gorgeous. I will not stop thinking about the pidgeon...yes i said it right...pidgeon. It was my second course and it was delicious.

You need to experience the Inn at Little Washington with someone special. It is a beautiful place in a beautiful part of the country.

My wife and I dined here last November en route to a sorority-sponsored "Parents Formal" at UVa. Of course ILW has a fabulous reputation as one of the finest restaurants in the country - and it did NOT disappoint! The food was superb, the wait staff affable & attentive, and the cheese cart was not to be believed!

It's clearly a "destination" restaurant, with reservations that need to be made months in advance. Our fellow diners were all celebrating and suitably attired (one of my pet peeves at other expensive restaurants and resorts).

If you're planning a trip to this area (which is lovely), make sure to enjoy a terrific meal at the Inn at Little Washington - you deserve to be pampered!

We've wanted to go to the restaurant but decided it merited a special event and this was it. The service is exellent and the atmsophere what you expect. We chose the gastronaut menu, began with glasses of rose Champagne and shared a bottle of very reasonably priced Virginia wine. It was a nice evening and the food absolutely delicious - I wouldn't expect less. I know many people have dinner there for special occasions, but perhaps we should have gone to a lesser known restaurant to feel more special. We received a congratulations from the head waiter and our desserts, which were part of the tasting menu, had congratulations on them and that was a nice touch. I don't think it would have been over the top for them to have given us a glass of Champagne (even a lesser one!). Also what contributes to a four-star experience versus perfect, was the lamp over our table was so low, I had to duck under, as well as did the servers to see or hear them - crazy. In total, the food was good and we enjoyed ourselves overall.

Wow, what a total experience! From the moment we approached the property, to the maitre d' and on and on, service was top notch. We were celebrating our 1st anniversary, and while I'm sure most people who come for this splurge are celebrating, they treated us like we were royalty. Patrick O'Connell even came out and said "hello" over cocktails. I was so pleased to see he runs his kitchen - even on Sunday nights. We went for the 11 course tasting menu which was incredible. Each dish was very special - they were each complex, but perfectly prepared and the flavors divine. We also had the wine pairings, which enhanced the food, however, as always, we ended up so full because of the generous pours, that next time, would order a bottle (but that's just us) - we're still happy we got the pairing and tasting menu.

The whole place is tasteful. It's filled with fresh flowers and antiques. You can ask to have your dessert served outside in the courtyard for a change of pace and fresh air at the end of your feast. I'm so glad we were able to experience this exquisite gastronomy - what a perfect evening and celebration!

Had dinner with friends last weekend and while some of the dishes were very well done, there were some that didn't inspire or even taste very good. The service on the evening we were there was very spotty. We were greeted by very friendly valets and hosts and were seated immediately. Our waiter was perhaps new, and we ended up waiting almost an hour and a half before our first course came out. We also noticed many other unhappy faces in the restaurant who were sitting around eating bread (which was very tasty.) My first course consisted of a raw oyster platter and unfortunately, they were room temperature and not served cold as expected. That was an unwelcome shock, but perhaps they sat out waiting for delivery since the first course was massively delayed.

After the oyster disaster, the meal improved immensely. Every single dish that came out for the 2nd and Main courses and the dessert course was wonderful, worthy of great praise.

Again, the service was spotty and we had to repeatedly ask for drinks (some were doing cocktails, some wine) through the night, but the food was delicious and made us forget some of the service bumbles. Don't know if I will come back, but the restaurant was quaint and the atmosphere was very relaxing.
