“two visits two successes”

The green leaf was recommended by the innkeeper at the iris Inn and it was a good choice. We visited on a Saturday which was extremely busy but we were allocated a table within minutes by a very cheery waitress and again the following night when it was very quiet. Both meals were excellent and the mashed potato as recommended by our innkeeper was divine. Everything about the place was great - if only it was our local!!!

“A Gem in Virginia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2013

very good food, service & atmosphere; chef & staff focused on good food & service
! a good selection of wine; bar tender knowledgeable in large choice of mixed drinks; recommend spinach salad with oysters (you can order with as many oysters as you prefer) and shrimp etouffee; chef trained in New Orleans so lots of NO style dishes offered; chef also offered to have a special I like available if I notified him when I would be back.

“Friendly bistro, good food, reasonable prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

I was really pleased to have chosen to eat here, and not fallen back on a meal from a franchised restaurant chain. There is a wide choice of dishes, the polenta and burger we chose were excellent; a tumbler of australian house shiraz was good in quality, quantity, and presentation, and at $6 a glass at the lower end of US wine prices. The food prices were similarly reasonable. The service was good as well - there was nothing not to like.

“Great place in small town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

Good job on the gumbo, but service was a bit lacking. Think we might have had the newbie server. We noticed other servers sharing information about the restaurant with their patrons and overheard that everything was homemade/organic which is what made us choose the gumbo. Also ordered a turkey/artichoke pannini to go.....ate it on the road the next day. Fantastic!

“Great Little Bistro in Downtown”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2013

Although most of the stores were closed and the lights were dim in downtown Waynesboro - we made our way to this small bistro/grill in the center of town.

We went upon recommendation of the proprietor of the Inn we were staying in, and are definitely glad we stopped in.

The place is small, but in an intimate way - not huddled together like a pizza joint on a Saturday night.

My wife ordered the soft shell crab for an appetizer and I enjoyed my side salad. Her crab was ok (never order seafood more than 50 miles from the coast), but my salad was great.

For our light dinners, my wife had the Caprese Panini w/ chips and I enjoyed the Turkey Panini. I also enjoyed a Star Hill Northern IPA and a Star Hill Jomo. They have a pretty extensive beer and wine list including some local beers.

Service: Hanna (U.K.) was just great
Ambiance: Dressy casual. Locals place
Parking: Found street parking
Bar: Small bar area
Food: Delicious. Worth a visit if in Waynesboro or surrounding town.
Price: Very affordable.

Recommendations: Serve more local wines. There are dozens of good wineries in the area, and I was surprised that they only had a smattering on their menu.
