The evening front desk clerk (gentleman) helped guide me to the hotel via cell phone from the opposite side of town. The room accommodations were very good, good decor, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. The drawers on the 3-drawer dresser got stuck (you had to pick up the drawer to close it) and the handle on the bottom drawer came off easily. The day desk clerk was also very friendly with helpful directions. The housekeeping staff was friendly.

Room Tip: All rooms are smoke free.

When we reserved this hotel through Priceline, I read the reviews and I was a little dubious. However, upon arriving at the hotel, I was met by courteous staff at the front desk and was assigned my two rooms on the third floor.
When entering the rooms, we were met with a rather musty, mildewy odor, probably due to the rather ancient looking carpet on the floor. We turned on the air conditioning, and found that we either became accustomed to the odor quickly, or the A/C pumped it out. Other than the odor, the rooms were clean. The furniture was a bit worn, with scratches and missing pulls on the dressers. The beds were firm and fairly comfortable, with clean sheets and nice clean pillows. The bathroom was small, but quite clean with polished floors and clean tiles. There were plenty of nice, clean towels and the water was hot and provided adequate pressure for a pleasant shower.
When we attempted to use the phone in the room to contact our friends in the next room, we found that the phone was unplugged. A couple of minutes of hunting had it plugged back in, and a couple of more minutes had us figuring out how it worked. I'm pleased that there was no emergency! MY friends attempted to answer their ringing phone, but could not figure out HOW to make it stop ringing! Also, the coffee maker in the room was placed NOWHERE near an outlet, so I took in into the bathroom to make coffee. This was a fortunate decision, as the filter basket promptly overflowed onto the counter and flowed into the sink. Good thing there was a gas station within walking distance for a big cup of coffee.
We were able to pick up decent WiFi in our room, the tv worked well and it was fairly quiet, so overall, I was not disappointed by this location. It wasn't terrific, but it wasn't horrible. The smell was the biggest drawback, in my opinion.
The location couldn't be beat, as we were a mere 5 mile drive straight up Rt. 60 from Busch Gardens, our destination. There is a disproportionate number of pancake houses in the neighborhood, so obtaining meals was no problem.
Overall, it was a decent place to stay for the $49 + tax I paid for the rooms, though I would aim a little higher next time.

Room Tip: Get a room higher up, away from the pet friendly section.

This hotel is definitely below average. The check in was easy, because the guy there barely took a look at my reservation, gave me FOUR keys, and said, "go around back and go up to the floor, you are paid in full". I complained both night that I was there that the back door where I entered was wide opened although there was a card lock, and I was informed "it is broken, but we have security" I never saw security, anybody around. The beds were comfortable and clean, but the room smelled moldy, and the place needed a facelift all the way around. It is not conveniently located to eating places and the restaurant at the hotel was more like a bar. I would not stay there again.

This hotel was dirty. There was an odor permeating through the building and in the rooms. The pool area was disgusting and towels were not available. There were bugs in the bathroom and the room itself had not had a deep clean in some time as there was a variety of buildups in the bathroom floor. I didn’t feel comfortable walking around bare foot in the room. The do not disturb notice was on the door, I had a 10am wake-up call scheduled and the maid service tried to enter the room at 9:45am. Overall, I was very disappointed with the condition of the hotel and the guest rooms.

It was a busy long weekend holiday. Upon our arrival at the front desk , there was a strong smell of gas everywhere, I found out later that the laundry was on the first floor same level as the lobby, that make sense why it smelled like gas maybe because of the dryer. When we got to our room, it smells the same. We stayed for 2 nights, the first night was a torture, I was not able to sleep at all, but the next was OK because I think laundry was closed that day. This hotel needs TLC big time, if you are looking for a good night sleep, clean and nice smelling hotel, this is not for you. take my advice my firend.

Ärrived on Thurs 25 Aug in this hotel around 12, and luckily my room on the 4th floor (462) was ready to move into, Was checked in by Judy who was very helpfull & cheerfull. Lobby is very nice with the free coffee, nice chandelier and cozy chairs.
Elevator and hallways looked tired and indeed, the room smells a bit musty, but that's solved quickly when turning on the A/C. Loved having a microwave & the shower was nice and strong (and loads of channels on the telly)!

Was due to leave on Saturday, but my plan to travel to Charleston by Amtrak were disrupted by Hurricane Irene, so decided to ride it out and to add 3 nights and catch a flight later to Savannah. Spend Saturday in the lobby while the rain lashed down and was impressed by the calm of the staff who friendly and efficiently dealt with the locals who had to leave their houses & booked rooms. at the Clarion. At 5PM there was a power outage, and swiftly a little generator was installed so at least the lobby had some light and business could go on, and the Bourbon restaurant immediately installed a little buffet for the hotel guests with free food/drinks/fruit/crackers, ice for keeping cool medicines etc. Flashlights were borrowed to the guests, and glowsticks were handed out so people could find their way through the hallways and have some light in the rooms. There was a lot of camaradie between the guests and a real spirit to get through this the best way. Impressive for a European who's not used to hurricanes and power outqages (if it happened here it would probably be "complaining all the way"...)

Sunday morning good to see some hot coffee around and muffins/bread for breakfast, again free. And thankfully the power was back on in the hotel after 24 hours :)
Yes, the hallways were noisy, but there was always a relaxed atmosphere, and I didn't mind some barking at times...or encountering a big bulldog when sleepily going for breakfast !

This is one of those miss rated hotels. It was dirty. The headboard was falling off. Staff was kinda scary. Overall the hotel did not meet the chains standards and was in a desperate need for a refresh. Skip this one.
