I was a bit uneasy staying here given the less than glowing reviews it's gotten lately, but after a 3 day stay this past weekend, I left well pleased. OK, it's not the Waldorf Astoria. It's a 50ish year old second/third tier hotel that's doing the best it can with what it has to work with. My room was clean and nicely furnished. I saw no sign of any critters. The AC worked fine, (and you could actually adjust it.) The fridge and microwave worked fine. The staff was pleasant. I didn't use the WiFi as I have my own hot spot. I don't normally rely on hotels for food. I got the sense that the HI Patriot does Breakfast only, but they put together a pretty basic lunch menu. Burgers/hot dogs/chicken tenders, that sort of thing. My friends who were staying there too thought the burgers were pretty good.
This is not a young facility, so of course it wasn't perfect. The decor in the meeting rooms is pretty dated, but, unlike the other reviewer I found that the AC worked fine. The elevators were slow, but there were 2, which was enough, and they worked.
This hotel is all about comfort, convenience and affordability, and on those scores it's AOK.More
