“Hotel needs update”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

This hotel met our needs for a place to sleep and a good breakfast, but you can tell the hotel needs some TLC. The beds were very comfortable and room was clean. The pool was a good size but I wouldn't say heated. The staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of parking and pet friendly.

Great hotel that allowed our small dog and was clean and appealing in a nice neat area of town. Staff was pleasant - pool was clean and refreshing. Overall this hotel was reasonably priced for the size of the rooms and the quality of the décor. Met some nice people there who also had chosen this hotel and we pleasantly surprised at the quality for the price.

We chose this hotel because of their pet policy, room rate and location. Upon arrival the hotel seems fine. The longer you are there, the more things you notice (dirty, falling apart, etc). It seems to be an older hotel that they have tried (or are trying) to update. The low ceilings and ramps over the stairs on the main level are evidence of this. We didn't really have any specific issues in the evening, other than the hot tub being covered and closed. At breakfast, we ate in the old "bar area" since the main seating area was full. There was no air conditioning in that area, and there was a bunch of broken chairs sitting in the room where it appeared they were being worked on with molding all over the floor. After breakfast, we were getting things packed up to leave when I noticed little ants up on the TV cabinet where we had put our snack bag from the car. Yes - they were also IN the bag. Luckily they only made their way into my daughter's cotton candy, so were were able to save most of our food - but throwing out the cotton candy left a very unhappy child. I then noticed ants in the bathroom as well. We did report this issue to the front desk, but they didn't seem to care and offered no apology. The beds were comfortable, and the food at breakfast was ok.

Let me start by saying that we stayed here so we could take our dogs with us for the weekend. First off our keys didn't work for getting into the building then they didn't work for the room. It was a constant struggle the whole stay. Other guests seemed to have the same issues we had. Doors were proped open constantly and that most definitely doesn't keep the hotel guests safe. Pool was cloudy and pool deck was always messy. Hotel should have someone do a walk around every once in a while. Hotel is in need of general maintenance and the entrances were full of spiderwebs.

Checking in: came to the office to find phone ringing off the hook with no desk attendant in sight. After five minutes, I gave up on waiting and finally located the check in attendant closing up the pool.

The main elevator was out of service. It was difficult to haul two young kids with large luggages to the furthest part of the hotel. The makeshift ramps on the stairs within the floors were helpful but that leads me to believe that this wasn't the first time they lost their elevator. If you are in a wheelchair, you will not be able to get to your room.

Room: After the rough adventure navigating down the four stair ramps, we finally arrived into our room. It was very dark and musty smelling. Two of the light bulbs were out. Toilet seats, while clean, were in need of repairs. Bed sheet stains were found by my wife. This particular room had a partial window view of the indoor swimming pool! One of the windows was covered up by a mirror. Being a not so busy Tuesday night, it came across my mind multiple times whether we were being discriminated as Asians or that other rooms were actually in much worse conditions.

I figured that we could just put up with it for 9 more hours, and after the battle with the ramps, I really had no energy to demand nor relocate to another room... Boy what a bad idea.

The room was hot so I decided to turn on the air conditioner. After few minutes, I was getting lightheaded so turned it off promptly. It didn't dawn on me just until now at 4:30 am that the gas emitted by pool chemicals were being pumped into this room... That explains my current dizziness and questioning the impact on my 2 and 5 year olds.

Not sure what woke me up... The uncomfortable bed, lightheaded ness from pool fumes, or the jet engine sounds coming from the refrigerator. There were tons of very low prices options in Williamsburg this week, but I really regret this stay as I will be extremely exhausted.

When we booked this we were not sure what we were going to get since many pet friendly hotels are dumps. NOT THIS ONE!!!!!!!!

Hotel was awesome. Very clean and very accommodating. They offer breakfast, microwaves, fridge and one of the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on.

The have bags at designated dog stations to pick up their waste. The pool was great as well. If you are traveling with fido, this is the place to stay!!!!

Great hotel, but breakfast needs a bit of improvement. Receptionist was very friendly upon arrival, but the kitchen staff needs some help getting breakfast food out quicker and the fruit bowl should be fresh, not out of a can.
