Fantastic stay - service is excellent. Especially want to recommend Laura Barlow, a server of the highest quality, in the restaurant. She made any meal an absolute pleasure. 10 stars to her.

The room is quiet, well appointed and comfortable. Location is perfect for the main attractions of Williamsburg. Would recommend taking the Holiday Package at Christmas. Includes some of the best the hotel, and area, have to offer.

This time of year, Jamestown and Yorktown are not overrun with tourists so you can drink in the history without being in huge crowds.

In short, if you're looking for a cheap getaway this is not the place. If you're looking for being treated royally without re-mortgaging the house, the Williamsburg Lodge will more than satisfy you.

Room Tip: Book early and pay attention to details. Don't expect poor planning on your part to be taken car...

My husband and I travel very frequently and stay in 4-5 star hotels. I expected this to be a 4 star however the mattress was as hard as a rock and the bed was so high that I feared falling out onto the uncarpeted floor. Also they had a 'fake' expresso machine, not the proper pressurized one. In a day of 'heavenly beds' and Starbuck standards, this was a great disappointment. Location was great, but not worth a bad night's sleep.

My wife and I have taken dozens of trips to Colonial Williamsburg and stayed at several of their accommodations (i.e. colonial homes, Woodlands), but never the lodge. We were anticipating a great room (queen size bed) considering the higher end price ($201 a night with taxes). What we experienced was a cool room (even setting the thermostat at 76 the heater still blew cool air). The room had a very small bathroom with a small flat screen located in an armoire which when viewed from the bed or chairs in the room was partially obscured since the TV stand in the armoire was not movable. The hallways seemed narrow compared to other hotels of this status and the lighting seemed dim. Being that the rooms are grouped in seperate buildings from the lobby area, restaurant and lounge we never encountered the hotel staff except during check-in. Since each building requires a key card entry it seemed we were always using one to get in buildings from the underground garage to our room. I had intentions of using the well appointed fitness facility, but it was some distance from the room with a 5 to 10 minute walk outside and across the street from the rooms which would not necessarily be an issue except it was cold weather. The room, hotel and hotel grounds were clean and pleasant. It is located only a few minutes walk from the restored area and the Colonial busses are easily accessable with a stop right in front of the hotel. We can now say we tried it and were somewhat disappointed, but for the money we will stay again in the colonial tavern rooms which are located in the heart of the restored area and are similar in price.

We were only here for one evening, but our stay was perfect! The location of the lodge makes it easy to shop and see historic Williamsburg within a short walk from your room. The lodge is rustic, but lovely and the fire makes it so welcoming. We enjoyed watching football and taking in the exquisite pub fare while sitting by the fire. Miri Istvanik was so accommodating. His attention to detail was admirable! He made the fire, moved chairs to make sure we were comfortable, took care of our every need. He truly made our experience memorable.

My wife and I visited colonial Williamsburg this past October. We visit the area every October and nearly always have the buffet breakfast at Williamsburg Lodge, as we did again this year. The selection is huge and the food is excellent--worth the price. After the all-you-can eat brunch, one does not need another big meal that day! We recommend it highly.

Our family of four stayed here for the first leg of our Summer vacation and could not have been more pleased. We stayed in one of the buildings across the coutyard from the main lodge. Very comfortable accomodations and convenient walking distance to the historic area. Food and service in the hotel restaurant was as good if not better than many of the restaurants in town. The pool was also very nice and only a short walk from the main lodge. All in all, a very nice stay at the lodge. If you are looking for something higher end, then the Williamsburg Inn might be more to your liking.
