“Great Family Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

Splash park, pool, games, easy access to historic area by shuttle bus or short, beautiful path, and free breakfast. The breakfast offered waffles, eggs, ham, fruits, muffins, etc. The hotel was quiet and even decorated with colonials appropriate wall paper. Staying here also gets you 25% discount off evening programs (we loved the dancing one).

We spent three days at the Woodlands in July. What a wonderful surprise of a hotel! Our room was very nice - not overly large, but nicely decorated and very clean (all I really care about!). What really made our stay, though, were all of the "extras" that were included in our room. Our family really liked the kid activities in the afternoon/evenings - my daughter really liked the art projects and family games. We all enjoyed playing mini golf (it's a little course, but fun and perfect for little ones) and LOVED the new splash pad. In fact, my 5 year old liked the splash pad more than our day at Water Country. There were also evening activities that we were too tired for - magic shows, colonial entertainment, and a pirate pool party. And while my daughter was a little young for it, we'll definitely be back for the morning activities which included the chance to join the colonial militia. Breakfast was also included- a huge buffet in the conference center. A little bit larger than your typical hotel breakfast with plenty of seating and all of the hot food was actually hot (we noticed that because of the volume of guests, the food was constantly being replenished, so everything we ate was fresh, not sitting for hours in steamer trays). Because you are staying on a Colonial Williamsburg property, you also get all of the benefits of staying on-property. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: This is a LARGE hotel. Breakfast was in the conference center, which was a short walk away. If walki...

This is a great place to stay if you are going to Colonial Williamsburg. We purchased a package through the hotel which covered breakfast, Colonial Williamsburg and other special events to see in the village. The room was comfortable with an extra pull out sleeper chair for my son. Breakfast was good, a lot to offer for the kids as well as plenty to eat for the adults, good hot coffee. Walking distance to the town and there is a shuttle offered as well. Hotel had a great swimming pool and splash area for the little ones, I was impressed by both. There is a restaurant Huzzah BBQ on site, which offers drinks and slightly cheaper eats than in the Colonial village. The visitor center is right next door offering tickets and information to all things to see and do in the revolutionary city, Jamestown, Busch Gardens. This is a general room, the staff was friendly, location was perfect. Overall a great place to stay, enjoyed the afternoon dip after a long day of walking.

Room Tip: We stayed close to the pool, and it was not to far from the city center, breakfast area, and restaur...

This is truly a wonderful hotel. Its close proximity to Colonial Williamsburg is great-either a short shuttle ride or a brief walk brings you to the heart of the Revolutionary city. There is a nice pool and splash park for the kids, and there is a miniature golf course on property. The complimentary breakfast is what puts this hotel above the higher priced Williamsburg Inn in my eyes, though. The amount and variety of food provided was far beyond my expectations for a complimentary breakfast. The staff was also very professional and went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. When we first checked in, the room we were given had not been completely cleaned. Immediately, an alternative room was found for us, and a note/care package was left for us to apologize for the inconvenience. I would highly recommend this hotel and stay here again.

We recently stayed at the woodland suites for 6 nights. It is a great alternative for those wanting to stay close to the revolutionary city but not pay the higher prices of the Inn and Lodge. There is a splash pool which is really great for kids. The rooms were nice and clean. There is no gift shop or bar & lounge. There is a restaurant on site though, Huzzah BBQ. There was a breakfast every morning which was ok. We only ate there a couple times as we tried some of the pancake houses instead. Visitor center is right next door so you can either walk or hop on a bus to the revolutionary city. Easy drives to Busch Gardens, Jamestown and Yorktown from here. Overall, it's a nice hotel and great location.

We stayed 3 nights (Revolution package) with our 11 year old grandson. Comfortable room, quiet despite the place being full of kids and families. Staff was wonderful and ever so helpful. Good hot breakfast every day was included in the package along with tickets to Colonial Williamsburg, Walking distance to the Visitors Center. Loved playing mini golf among the trees (shade is always appreciated!). Ate 2 meals at the Huzzah Restaurant there on the property - great service and reasonable prices. Pool was enjoyed in the evenings and kids seem to really enjoy the Splash Pad. Various activities in the evening - The Magic Show is not to be missed! Lance (dressed in period costume) not only had some awesome magic tricks he engaged the kids throughout the program and even showed them some tricks they could do themselves.
Relaxing and a fun place to be with shuffle board, ping pong and corn hole games. Never had a feeling of being crowded either. Plan to go back next year!!!

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor is your best bet. Plan on doing some walking. So if distance is an issue ask for...

This is a wonderful place to stay. We got a great deal on the Colonial Williamsburg Flex Package. The flex package gets you into Yorktown, Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Bush Gardens, and Water Country. This also includes your parking. The Woodlands had it all. There was a splash park for the kids, a swimming pool, a spa, miniature golf, and Huzzah restaurant. Staff were fantastic, restaurant was exceptional-food excellent and the rooms were great. My only issue was that the refrigerator in the room was small. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: When booking here, my suggestion is to go through Colonial Williamsburg reservation line. You find r...
