“Food was Great”

Looks like a small, dive of a diner from the outside because its surrounded by "upscale" type bistros and whatnot. This place has friendly people working and awesome food. Just be prepared to wait for a seat if its packed as seating isn't very plentiful but thats part of the location. Its a small piece of Colonial Williamsburg dining and the food is amazing.

“Standard fair burger joint”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

The burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches were good, fresh and tasty. The Onion Rings and Fries were delicious. Overall it was a little pricey but it wasn't crowded and it was a nice family restaurant. I would eat here again.

“Teenagers are running this place”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014 via mobile

Food was decent and prices were reasonable. We went on a Thursday evening around 7 which I would consider peak time and there was a teenager taking the orders. He acted as if I was a causing him trouble by placing our order. This could be a really neat place it has potential. Right next to campus and up the street from the historic area. Just not the service we have come to expect in Williamsburg.

“Good for ice cream”

Husband and I were walking around and wanted to stop for a treat and bathroom break. We both enjoyed sundaes (hot fudge, caramel), and would recommend this spot for those.

“Very Average Food, Good Prices for the Area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

My husband and I had been looking forward to trying this place after seeing it any time we were in the area for other reasons. We finally made the trip out and was kinda disappointed by the whole experience.

The cashier was very nice, but did not know what one of the items was on the menu. They were also out of mashed potatoes, which was a let down, but I understand that things like that happen.

We both ordered burgers which were about on-par with fast food restaurant quality. The fries were a let down as personally, I do not enjoy the "natural" style of fries as they are brown, soggy, and limp. The flavor of them was fine, I just do not associate that type of fry when I think of diner fries.

The drinks were very good. My husband ordered the lime-aid which he really liked and the draft rootbeer was very tasty.

The prices were good considering the area, and I would not be apposed to trying it again and trying different items.

Thanks for coming in to Retro’s. Happy to hear you enjoyed the drinks. The lime aid is a signature item for us. I’m sorry we were out of mashed potatoes. We make a huge pot of mashed potatoes every morning – Fresh. As we bake them fresh daily, there is no way to know how many one will need. We use a high quality potato. Unlike some other restaurants, we do not cook our potatoes in the microwave. Thanks for the mention of pricing. We work diligently to hold the pricing to be ‘family affordable”. We will look forward to your next visit.
