We spent Memorial Day Week-end at Governor's Green with friends. We were in Unit 2225, which is one of the units that has not been renovated yet. The furniture is a bit worn, but the unit and linens were clean and our beds were still comfortable. We did not have loud neighbors, so did not hear any noise above, beside or below us. ( A note to those who complain about noise: It doesn't matter how insulated shared walls are, if you are unfortunate enough to have noisy neighbors, you will hear them. We have stayed in very high end hotels and had such an experience when others have said in reviews that the rooms are very quiet.)

On Memorial Day Week-end and the entire resort was decorated in American Flags, an American Flag was placed in a gift bag of travel products, and they even gave us red & white carnations for our units that I put in a blue pool glass. The person at the parking pass table that usually tries to get you to sign up for a "tour" said that someone would be by with a gift about 1/2 hour after we moved in. That person suggested that we go to a" free breakfast or lunch to learn about updates" for a gift card. We told them that we "absolutely were not interested and just wanted to have a relaxing week-end". We did not get one call after that. (Come on people, if you stay in ANY timeshare, you have to be strong. If you are tempted by a gift card of whatever amount, don't blame them for reeling you in. We love staying at timeshares and enjoying all that extra space, but you have to be strong and tell them that you absolutely are not interested in any gift and that you want to have a pleasant vacation without that hassle. Trust me, it works!)

Governor's Green is in a perfect quiet location to do anything in Williamsburg. There are just enough extra activities offered on resort, although I have a feeling many people don't take advantage of these because there is too much to do off resort in Williamsburg. We have stayed at Patriot Place, Kingsgate, Greensprings, Powhatan Plantation, and Fords Colony in Williamsburg and Governors Green is far better than any of the other timeshare resorts. The units are very spacious, towels are ample, employees are friendly, even older units are clean if worn, but they are renovatin the resort and we were lucky enough to stay in one of the renovated units last summer. I would highly recommend staying at Governor's Green if you are visiting Willliamsburg and you are able to get in.

This was our first time staying at the G. Green and thought it was very nice. The grounds were very pretty and our rooms looked out on the pond, which had ducks and turtles. We really enjoyed the adults only pool area for a quiet hot tub soak after a day of biking. The bed was really comfortable. We stayed on a ground level room and did not experience any disruptive noise and there were plenty of people around. We were able to rent a movie in the activity center, which was nice. If there is anything negative to say, it would only be that the sofa seemed a bit older and kind of worn, I understand that they will soon be updating the interiors so I am sure that will be remedied soon. Not a deal breaker. As for whether there was a high pressure sales pitch: We're timeshare owners, and were asked to schedule an appointment for a review of our plan. We ended up canceling the appointment later, with no further requests. So no high pressure experienced by us. We' d go back next time we were in town.

We booked through our time-share get-away program so got a super rate. First, it is not a hotel, it is a condo complex. The property is lovely and only a few miles from the historic area which was our goal. It would be great for families in the summer as there is lots to do right at the resort. The only downside was the sales pitch. We didn't have to subject ourselves to it but couldn't pass up the $75 gift card to do so! Even so we felt the pressure was rather excessive.

Room Tip: As far as I could see all the units are good.

The location is good and the facilities are much better than Kingsgate or Patriot's Place. Governor's Green's units have a more open layout than the others. Kingsgate is being remodeled and seems to have children's programs. Avoid Patriot's Place if at all possible. It is really old.

If you are a timeshare owner, do not do the update! The people are very pushy and not respectful of you or your time.

There was too much chlorine in the indoor hot tub. It burned our eyes just sitting in it.

There was a coffee machine available in the lobby area. There was free internet in your unit and a printer was available in the business center.

There was a small workout room.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor due to poor insulation.

We just got back from Governor's Green today ...stayed 3 nites . . was the first time we'd been to this particular Wyndham Resort . The grounds & area were absolutely beautiful, everything was clean, and very picturesque setting , as we are use to from the Wyndham resorts we have visited in the 13 yrs. we've been 'owners'. thru their program ( use to be Fairfield Resorts but Wyndham took over a few yrs ago ).... Anyway, after arriving around 5 p.m on Tues , we quickly learned that you could hear just about everything in the unit above us. . . everytime someone walked across the floor, opened & shut drawers, turned on water , etc. we heard it.. We knew there were several kids above us as we heard them running back & forth thruout their unit, and yelling & hollaring alot. We waited til 10 p.m. and decided we couldn't take it anymore & called the front desk to complain. They sent security up to talk w/us and listen . . then they went upstairs & talked to the Mom ....the noise subsided thank goodness, but then at 6 a.m. the next morning, the 'group' awakened & it all started again. Mind you, we don't get up at the crack of dawn when we're vacationing so we were upset. Out of the 3 nites we were there, we had to call security on 2 nights . . the middle night we somehow got lucky and apparently they were exhausted & fell asleep early as there was minimal noise ( altho we think they went to their friends condo down the rd to stay that night since we complained as we saw their VAN at another condo ) .. . We ended up talking to the front desk , , twice, , and the concierge once , when he called to see if everything was 'alright' . . he got an earful from us . . HA . . . We were really upset !!!!! . . we didn't sleep well due to hearing every footstep, drawers opening & shutting, etc. . . so didn't have a great vacation there at all. They were going to move us to another bldg, on the top floor so we could get some peace and quiet, but it was too much hassle at that pt and we only had 1 nite left, and decided to make the best of it and just keep calling the mgr again, if we needed to. We were very very disappointed with all this noise at this resort . We loved the setting, the beauty of it all but it's not sound proofed at all . I would like to try it again possibly if we could get a TOP FLOOR with no one above us . .. but husb is so mad he says 'never again' we will go to Governor's Green. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all, even though the staff was quite helpful and kept talking to the people. It didn't seem to help much . They did tell us the 'mom' asked for a bottom level condo when she first arrived but they had no openings at that time, so they got put on the 3rd floor, and we were right below them . I would suggest taking earplugs if you go there. Wish we had!!!!! .
