Stayed at this hotel after a long day of driving. Near I-81, a few blocks away. Located near several eateries, and some shopping areas for those so inclined. We were a "drop-in", yet were treated well and made welcome and given a good discount rate (worked out to be about 1/2 of what we spent just the night before at a Fairfield).

Clean room, however the HVAC unit was making some noise, so we asked to be moved to another room -- this was taken care of almost as fast as we asked -- took longer to code the room keys than anything else. New room was clean, in a quiet area, so no road noise. Only draw-back -- bottom sheet on bed had lost elastic qualities, so sheet came up around edges over night -- we sleep pretty heavily, and didn't notice same until next morning.

Remainder of room concerns were good -- nice easy-chair and ottoman, sizable desk, double dresser with large mirror, separate table (not folding frame) that would hold full suitcase at a reasonable height for access. Same had wireless and wired internet access that was easy to use. Nice refrigerator and microwave (both worked) and a coffee make (did not try it, however, it looked new).

Breakfast area is large, seating 40+. Good selection of hot and cold items, including cereals, waffles (make your own), bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, sweet rolls, fruit, 4 juices, good coffee (a real must for us) -- all in an area large enough to keep one from bumping into others all the time.

Nice to have a check out at 12:00 noon so we didn't feel rushed.

Final thought -- this place beat the stuffing out of the Fairfield we stayed in the night before for customer service, amenities, room quality --- all for 1/2 the price - (Fairfield gave no discounts even though they we only about 1/2 full in occupancy)

Good stay at a reasonable cost.

We were delayed in getting there so I called ahead to let them know that we would be in late. We had trouble finding the hotel so I tried calling and could not get anyone to answer. We finally arrived and the doors were locked and there was not anyone at the front desk. I tried calling the hotel and still no answer. We rang the intercom and still no response. Finally, a clerk came up and I began to explain that we had been trying to reach the hotel and she was very rude and made excuses.

We've stayed at the Wingate several times and this last visit wasn't the best. The positives are location, speed/ease of check-in out, and the breakfast. On the negative side the room we check in to was in need of updating. The carpet was noticably dirty, the room had a strange odor, the toilet didn't work and the remote was broken. I can live with a broken remote, but the toilet was another thing. I called the front desk and the clerk offered to bring me a plunger so I could plunge the toilet myself because there was a shortage of housecleaning staff on account of the holiday. Well, to say the least, I was less then thrilled about the idea of that, so the clerk gave us a different room. I think the next time we stop in Winchester we will pay a tad bit more(really not that much) to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn and just pay for breakfast somewhere. The Wingate really needs some updating of the rooms!

The hotel was very new looking and provided a nice, clean room. The pool was a decent size and the fitness area was nice, but kept a bit too warm. Our room was a king sized room and, although the room was a nice size, the bathroom was horribly small. You couldn't even open the door the entire way without hitting the shower rod and you couldn't get out of the shower without stepping over the toilet. Very cramped!!! The bed linens were a nice quality but the pillows were very lumpy and the bed was far too soft. The wireless internet service was a bit slow but it was adequate if you were just searching for a restaurant or attraction. Nice location - we were worried initially about the highway being so close but it wasn't an issue at all - very little road noise. The best feature of the hotel was the free breakfast - it was a nice selection of hot and cold foods and was kept pretty well supplied. All in all, a decent hotel but for the price I think we'll try the Hilton Garden Inn next door on the next stay!

Winchester was half way to our destination and a good stopping point for our family with 3 young children. We didn't have reservations ahead of time so looked on our blackberries. When I arrived at the hotel, they quoted me a higher rate than I saw online but gladly gave us the lower rate. We had a very comfortable room - very standard, but nice. The breakfast in the morning was very nice - not just a standard continental. There was plenty of hot food as well. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.
