I have had two very good experiences at Not Your Average Joe's in Woodbridge. The most recent was for dinner with my wife and friends. It was a Friday evening and the restaurant gets very crowded on the weekends so I would recommend reservations. We were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She informed us that the kitchen was a bit behind although it didn't seem to take long to get our food. All of the dishes have quite large portions and were pretty interesting compared to other chain restaurants. Not Your Average Joe's definitely has more of an independent restaurant feel to it. I had the rosemary skewered scallops and they were prepared very well. The orange-chipotle chili glaze gave a good kick of flavor, but didn't overpower the taste of the scallop. The cous cous had a lot of flavor. The price was a bit higher than you would find at other chains, but commensurate with the quality. We all shared the peanut butter thing for dessert which was delicious (and a very large portion).

We ate lunch outside because it was such a pretty day. I splurged and had a yummy Mojito. Food was tasty.

If you want a burger or salad this is a good spot. Our server was quite energetic when explaining the "scratch kitchen" etc....but long intervals passed during the meal with her not checking in and we also had to wait a bit for the check. The portions here are HUGE so, be careful what you order. We had way more than we could eat and could easily have split one dinner salad. This is a "been there, done that" spot - nothing extraordinary to bring me back.

We ate here on a Saturday night. It's great that they take reservations so we didn't need to wait long. The weather was beautiful and we got a table outside. (There was a strange fishy smell inside the restaurant that was really unpleasant.) It took a long time for the waitress to acknowledge us and then another long wait to get drinks. But after that, things picked up. They had a very good reasonably priced wine list. (The Kim Crawford Sav Blanc from New Zealand was terrific!) And you could tell that the food really was fresh. I ordered the Smokehouse Jambalaya, and it was delicious. It had a wonderful blend of flavors, just the right amount of spice, lots of meat and the ingredients were very fresh, not warmed over like it seems to be in other restaurants. My boyfriend got the scallops and they were also terrific. We will definitely be back.

A sitter fell on our lap and the wife and I decided to go out on our first date night in months. The restaurant is part of a really nice outdoor mall great for exploring prior to dinner. The place itself is awesome. Booths, tables, very open with a great vintage industrial feel to it. The menu has a full spread of meat, pizza, seafood, salads and a full beer and wine list. Service was superior. The food theme was "made from scratch" and it was great. Dessert was to die for. We dined like kings for only $75 bucks. I will go again.
