“Great getaway”

What a wonderful quick getaway from the busy city! Quiet retreat near several nice wineries, Route 11 potato chip factory, kayaking, and battlefields. Ed was a delightful host. The Inn has great history and beautiful grounds. We will return.

I had such a great weekend here. I wanted a peaceful, relaxing place where I could sit outside and write, and I got that and much more. A friend had recommended this place, and I'm glad she did -- the prices were very reasonable, and the entire stay was just wonderful.

Ed was fantastic -- giving me my space, but also ensuring the highest quality service. Breakfast was great, and Ed's homemade baked goods were fantastic.

My weekend was spent mostly outside, enjoying the beautiful porches and views of the Shenandoah. Just 10 minutes down the road was the quaint town of Edinburg, with main street shopping and restaurants. The Inn is also situated right next to a pond and a lovely country road, perfect for walking. There's a lovely foot bridge right next door, extending over Narrow Passage creek.

Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay -- I will definitely be back soon!

What a lovely time we had enjoying our long weekend stay at the Inn. The weather was perfect for us to enjoy the lobby fire as well as one in our room each night. Ed and Ellen treated us to a great breakfast each morning and there was plenty to snack on throughout the day too. We were a large group and Ed and Ellen were accomodating to all our special requirements. The location is perfect for visiting wineries and enjoying the waters of the Shenandoah river right out your front door.

Room Tip: Our room was great with fireplace and balcony on second floor

Ed and Ellen are wonderful hosts. He is a joy to talk to and learn about the area. Rustic inn with all your convienences , rooms with fireplaces , porches and a view of the Shenandoah river. Convenient to many great Virginia wineries. North Mountain Vineyard is a must!

The Inn at Narrow Passage is in a great location - allowing easy exploring of the beautiful surrounding areas and visiting some of the best wineries in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. This is a rustic inn, with the comfort of modern day convenience. Ed and Ellen were great hosts and our room was very comfortable, complete with fire each evening right in the bedroom - nice! The breakfasts were homemade and yummy, especially the large variety of homemade baked goods. The fresh fruit was a welcome addition to the rest of the feast. Thank you, Ellen, for the surprise goody bag. I enjoyed the muffins on our drive home. We come to this area every couple of years and would stay here again!

Room Tip: There are several rooms with fireplaces. I recommend one if the weather is cool. There are stairs...

Sadly the weather was against us but Ed and Ellen made us feel right at home. Best sleep we've had on this trip and the breakfast was top notch. Attractive, authentic property. Enjoyed the walk down to the river, across the swaying bridge and watching the birds. Recommended.

We found the Inn at Narrow Passage by accident. Last minute we wanted to get away for Veteran's Day. We were able to stay one one of the rooms in the original structure complete with log walls. The room was comfortable, the breakfast good but with outstanding baked goods made in the kitchen. Ed and Ellen Markel live on the property and were a delight to talk with. We've been at more luxurious B&Bs, but this in is homey, very friendly, and comfortable beyond just creature comforts. Add the river a few feet away and a wonderful walk over the river and up the hill from the inn and it was a great place to stay.
