“tiny thai in stripmall”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

You wouldn't think anything of this place if you drive past in and around the bend. but trust me, this is the best thai food I have ever had....and they give you loads of it as well. we ordered the phad thai shrimp, a beef dish and a fried rice. I didn't care for the fried rice but everyone else liked it. this place was recommended to us by someone on the light rail.

“Better Thai Food than Seattle, across a ferry hop....”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

What was to turn out a bad day trip to Bainbridge due to heavy rain, actually was saved by some great Thai food at Sawatdy. Recommended by a colleague (who lives in Bainbridge), Sawatdy is a drive from the Ferry port into the heart of the Island on Fletcher Road. The location is not impressive (next to a gas station) but the food is extremely good. The service to start with is courteous and the waitress guided us to choose the right options off a pretty elaborate menu. The lunch is served with a salad/soup option along with the mains & drinks. Both the salad and soup were very good appetizers. The Thai Green curry was very good (though more mushrooms that I would want) and just the right flavour and taste along with plain rice. The Stir Fry Chicken was very good as well.

A pleasant eating place with loud interiors, efficient food and great service. Enjoyed the lunch on a rainy day in Bainbridge. Recommended.

“We Keep Coming Back”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

We absolutely love Sawatdy and it may have ruined us for thai food anywhere else other than it's Sawan Thai location across the island. Food is always served fresh and hot and is delicious, they never disappoint. They have a great selection from their menu. Sawatdy is located in a strip mall that could use some exterior updating but trust the reviews, go in and have a wonderfully delicious meal at a reasonable price. Great for families, friends or couples. It is an island favorite.

“A must visit!”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

I've been to Thailand and tried Thai in 30 or so states, hands down the best Pad Se-ew on the globe.

I went there with Dad, his first shot on grubbing on some Thai. He loved it- and he's from Minnesota, if does include "cream of mushroom soup" is not necessarily food. So the fact he ate the whole thing and the soup speaks volumes.

I, of course, went for the Pad Se-ew...which I still can't spell but then I can't pronounce it either so it evens out. It looks expensive, but you get a huge amount. And it tastes like Nirvana wrapped in heaven. No, not that good, but favor is 'best ever' and the consistence is just right.

Avoid Thailand, come here. You'll save money, not have to sit in an airplane for 18 hours, and get better food.

“Don't Let the Outside Fool You”
Reviewed 12 February 2014

We have no problem making the drive to Bainbridge Island just so that we can go to Sawadty's. Not being that familiar with the island, we had to drive around a bit before we found it the first time. It sure doesn't look like much from the outside, so you really feel like you've stepped into another world when you enter.

We have always been promptly seated and attentively waited on, so no problem with the service. The dishes don't usually come out at the same time, but as long as we have food in front of us and can start eating, we're happy.

We usually order extra entrees to make sure we have plenty leftover to bring home for another day. We really shouldn't worry though because the portion sizes are so huge, there is no way you can eat it all in one sitting. The prices are very reasonable, too.

We have been happy with all our choices so far, but our favorites are the Satay and Peek-Gai Yat Sai (stuffed chicken wings) appetizers; Gang Garee Gai (yellow curry chicken); Khao Phad Pysed (special fried rice); Northern Noodles and the Ultimate Fried Rice.
