“Please return to previous menu”

This has been such a disappointment! The previous Packers restaurant was a favorite of local Semiahmoo year-round residents and marina residents in the area because it was a "pub" where one could relax with casual meals and drinks and just enjoy the view without the expensive hype. Now, after the renovations, the menu is far too "upscale" for every day customers who want simpler fare and pub food like the previous menu offered. Our favorites for years were a pound of chilled shrimp in the shell. Fantastic! Fish and chips so delicious our Canadian friends came to Packers specifically for the meal saying it was the best! There were salads like a wonderful pear salad which was to die for. Hamburgers were simple and delicious, mac and cheese and several pasta dishes which were great! BUT, all that has changed to expensive "gourmet" food which is out of the question for local customers who just want their old pub back and their retreat at Semiahmoo. Good luck with your out of town guests, but the local customer is out in the cold now! Too bad, especially in those long winter months when you have to depend on local people to support your restaurants. Sad day for Semiahmoo community and Blaine.

“Still Working On It”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

Pricey menu with few options than before. The Happy Hour menu was a plus. Good wine selection. Our dinner server was great, but when we went back for dessert later, the staff was preoccupied?

Since the Oyster Bar is being renovated, the temporary location is merely average. Lunch offered few options with dinner ($25-$35) prices. Breakfast was weak, but the manager "fixed" it.

“Food and service like it should be!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2014

I'm very hard to please and after waiting a half hour for our food, I began to fidget and about ready to fume, but it was worth it. (and the view of the ocean, ducks, fishing boats, etc made the wait bearable. Checked out all of the beautiful photographs and art on walls). We went in at 1 pm and there was no one else in the lounge bar.

I had crab & avacado served on croissant with portabello mushroom fries served with a basil remoulade. It was fabulous. My partner ordered a hamburger and it was a huge stack with carmelized onion, mushroms, pickle, lettuce, and the best fries we've ever tasted served in a conical holder. She also said the coffee was very good (I had water).

The wine menu showed a cocktail hour special of goat cheeses & crackers (among other offerings) with $2 off a glass of wine so want to go back for that (hope it is more than a 4 oz glass). I awarded our waitress Sarah with one of the "Excellent" badges from Trip Advisor. She was outstanding, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable.

Would love to stay here sometime. The Semiahmoo Resort, a five star destiation for golf and spa, was recently acquired by new owners and totally remodeled. A display of mateials used in each section, with photos was along one wall. A new porte-cochère was being built that day.

We thought we were going to eat at their Blue Heron Cafe but found it is actually at the golf course about a mile or two away.

“Generally Awesome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014

Our biggest complaint was the food was consistently not hot. The soup, the eggs, the apple crisp... We are not sure if this is a reflection on the renovations, but plate covers might help. The food is very nicely presented. The flavours are good. The selection is decent, for a three day stay it filled the bill.

“Charming restaurant”

The fish and chips were wonderful. The view of the coastline is beautiful. The service was good for a crowded Saturday night. Staff was helpful and cheerful.
