Oyster Bay Inn & Suites
Ranked #6 of 9 Hotels in Bremerton
Reviewed 14 October 2011

The inn sits on its namesake, beautiful Oyster Bay on the Kitsap Peninsula, near Bremerton, Washington. An unusual feature of this property is its separate, self-contained Chalet, a building separate from the other guest rooms and boasting its own covered parking space. My husband and I stayed in the Chalet on the evening of October 1. One might describe the Chalet as funky, with worn porch boards, old mismatched furniture, and a noticeable strange odor upon entering. The upstairs sleeping loft, living room, and downstairs bedroom all have their own TV sets, and the kitchen is fully furnished with dishes and appliances, including microwave.
The “exercise facility” consisted of one treadmill, and one stair climber marked out of order. The breakfast was woefully inadequate, with three biscuits remaining and an empty gravy crock pot; there were no spoons for the cereal, and I snagged the very last and only sausage patty in the warmer. No one appeared to replenish the food or clean up the scattered cereal flakes strewn over the serving bar.
In contrast, we enjoyed a very good prime rib at dinner the evening before, although no wine was available as the Inn is going through problems with the liquor license. A broken and leaking ceiling tile was plainly visible from our table, with a champagne bucket positioned below the catch the drips. Our waitress was apologetic, friendly and efficient.
The biggest challenge faced by this property seems to be the lack of staff. There was no one on duty at the front desk when we arrived to check in; no one at the restaurant desk when we arrived for dinner; and no one in attendance at the complimentary breakfast buffet on Sunday. When we hunted down the staff people for help, though, they were polite and helpful.
We would not stay here again without verifying that considerable updates and repairs have been made. However, the spectacular setting gives us hope that the Oyster Bay Inn will rise to meet its potential.

Room Tip: The Chalet will give you the most privacy, although it does cost more.

This place is a mixed bag. It's dated and a little worn. When I first checked in I was a little worried that I was checking into a dump. The rooms are very basic, but clean. No little extras on the amenities. If you are in the second building, beware that there's no elevator, so avoid the third floor if you have a lot of luggage. The ice machines weren't working, so you have to go to the main building for ice. That's the negative. The breakfast isn't too bad, except that there is no fruit anywhere to be found - it's cereal, biscuits, yogurt, sausage and bacon, toast, juice and coffee and hard boiled eggs.

However, most rooms have a view of the bay, which is very pretty and peaceful. The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and pleasant. And the restaurant is outstanding!

The location is good, too - close to the highway, a straight shot to the ferry, and there are other restaurants, a drug store and grocery store nearby.

If you're looking for a nice room, look elsewhere, but for a reasonable price, good food, and a great view, this is a good choice.

When I stayed at the hotel it was full, so obviously they are meeting demand. Having said that it was not very clean, needs renovation by a professional decorator (it's not that the rooms are in bad taste but they have no taste at all - a cube painted white) and the bed was not at all comfortable.
On the other hand it was not too expensive-about $110, so I can't complain too much and it did include a very basic breakfast. The personnel were perfectly polite.

I visited this restaurant on June 29th and the front desk lady was extremely rude. The restaurant was not open yet and I had some questions about the cuisine but was not given the time of day. I took my dinner party else where. Maybe she was just having a bad day but I'm in sales and know that sometimes first impressions are everything!

Everyone here was so friendly! I loved the on-site restaurant. Traveling on business, I didnt plan on venturing out too far. The view from my room was beautiful. Everything was great. I would return if I ever found myself in this area again!

I stayed the weekend for my Grandmother's birthday. We had rented a large room used for buissness or parties and we not only got to use it when we had rented it but they allowed us to keep coming in because there was such a large group of us staying (16). They were all very kind. Thank you!!!

We were in Bremerton celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday. We leased the conference room for the party and the hotel catered it. We stayed for 6 days. The views were so beautiful and tranquil. The rooms were very clean. Free hot breakfast daily. The service was amazing. With a group of 16, it was hard to gather in one room. The staff was totally accomodating. They allowed us to gather in the conference room (when it was available) or opened up the dining room for us. With every need, they provided a solution with a smile. We couldn't have asked for better service!!!! Hope you give this place a visit. We will visit again! I really enjoyed their shrimp cobb salad, also. They also, have a quaint little two-bedroom chalet!
