Olympic View Bed and Breakfast Cottage
Ranked #2 of 4 Burien B&B and Inns
Reviewed 16 November 2010

We stayed for 4 nights. We wavered between staying downtown or staying close enough to down town for its access but in a quieter more laid back location. Olympic View B&B won and we were not disappointed. With the rush hour traffic being so crazy and I'm saying this coming from Chicago, it was great to sneak into the city in 20min on the less traveled roads and avoid the commuting crunch. The cottage pictures and view are all very accurate. You cannot imagine though how quiet it is. We like making our own schedule whether its getting up a little later one day or returning late after a long day of siteseeing. The cottage is fully modernized and very comfortable whether enjoying a leisurely breakfast and cup of coffee while planning the day or kicking back and watching the sun set and a movie. We liked the options of either eating out or cooking a meal ourselves.

We brought some guide books with us, but was overwhelmed by how much they have available whether its personal shopping tips, local eating tips, directions, maps, day trip suggestions, etc. If you need to stay "connected", the free internet worked flawlessley.

The Olympic View is not about "roughing it". We would definitely stay again.

This is essentially a very well appointed one room apartment over a garage. It has a private hot tub and spectacular views of Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains. It is about 10 mins drive from SeaTac airport and 30 mins from downtown Seattle. The hosts provide groceries for you to make your own breakfast whenever you feel like it. It's a real gem for a peaceful getaway.

Please don't let the review by "Extremely Disappointed" (in July 2010) sway you. Just read all the rest of the glowing reviews people have given this wonderful B&B! We stayed here for 3 nights in October 2010 and had a wonderful time. The place is clean and you have everything you would need for a mini vacation. The food provided for breakfast was more than adequate (fresh fruit daily, orange juice, coffee, eggs, pancake mix, etc.) and the fresh muffins and baked goods were delicious. We didn't need to worry about going out to eat breakfast every day. Sipping coffee on the patio with the view of Puget Sound and the mountains was indescribable. The fresh flowers on the table were a very nice and homey touch. The cottage is very quiet and peaceful and your worries and stress begin to melt away the minute you arrive. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful, quiet, relaxing time with an awesome view. And the little town of Burien has so many cute shops, bakeries (The Danish Bakery) and restaurants. Seattle is only about a 15-20 minute drive. There is so much to do in the area! The owners (Dave and Eileen) are very sociable, personable and nice people! They were so helpful when we asked for directions to the different sites we wanted to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope you choose to stay there, too! You will be glad you did.

Words are not enough to describe the most wonderful time we had while staying at Olympic View. It was all we hoped it would be and more - a private getaway which we will long remember. Our first visit to the Seattle area and we found a place that if we ever return it will be our only choice for a place to stay. Normally we don't do B & B's, but this is no common experience, nor a common B & B.. Private, Romantic, and so relaxing, the best 4 nights of our 3 week vacation. You are the only guests, in a seperate, secluded setting. To call it a cabin experience would be sooo wrong, it was more like having your own elegant getaway home on Puget Sound. The only thing we did find wrong with Olympic View was that they are so far from our home in Connecticut on the Washinton coast, not the Maine or New Hampsire coasts, our normal stomping grounds. Move them to a rocky New England shore location and we would be a twice a year customer.

We stayed for three nights in this beautiful cottage and we loved the relaxing atmosphere both of the cottage and the small town of Burien which offered lots of choice to eat out and was very friendly.

Coming from Wales (we live within a few miles of the 2010 Ryder Cup venue) Burien was facinating for us to explore and take in the small town 'American' atmosphere whilst the nearby city of Seattle was brilliant (great amphibious city tour) if not a little daunting to drive into. Fortunately Dave and Eileen came to our rescue the second day and sorted us out with directions to get into the city by train from the nearby airport.

Dave and Eileen have obviously gone to great lengths to perfect their wonderful B&B and we were sorry to leave it and head north towards Vancouver and the plane home. If there had been a vacancy we would have happily stayed longer but we took Eileen and Dave's advice and stopped off at the San Juan Islands on our way north and once again they came up trumps as it was as they advised a wonderful place to visit.

If you have the chance to visit Eileen and Dave's B&B grab it quickly, we are sure you will love it.

We found this B&B on TripAdvisor and were pleasantly surprised even though it already had stellar reviews. This is no ordinary bed and breakfast. It's a stand alone unit right next to the proprietor's house. The room has a fully stocked kitchen (including food, silverware, pots and pans) and we were able to wake up and eat on our own schedule. Dave and Eileen cleaned the room when we were gone, and we hardly ran into them. We did stay a long time, so we did have a few enjoyable conversations with them, but they pride themselves in leaving the guests alone. Also, a convenient parking space is provided free to the guests.
The B&B is just a few minutes outside the town of Burien. We drove down to the main block a few times and they have some excellent restaurants and shops there. We also walked to the water and around the neighborhood/Indian Trail. The views are excellent and the hilly terrain provides a nice workout.
Every day, Dave would drop off two new tasty pastries and restocked the coffee, fresh fruit cups, granola, pancake mix, oatmeal, eggs, milk and other grocery items. They also did a great job keeping the place clean. We would wake up, cook some food and start our day. One day, we used the barbecue and grilled salmon, steaks and veggies.
If we left dirty dishes out after breakfast, they'd pick them up and put them in their dishwasher and return them the next day.
We had some guests visit from the Seattle area and they thought the place was incredible and would be a perfect romantic getaway. We really didn't want to leave.
I really hope I have the opportunity to return to stay here as I cannot imagine a better place to stay.

Our stay at the Olympic View B&B 6/15-22/10 was everything and MORE from what we were expecting from their website! Eileen and Dave we so very friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful and was perfect for our 20th anniversary. We were in Seattle to also attend our son’s wedding. The rest of the family were in hotels and were envious of the pictures we shared with them. It was fabulous to come back to such a peaceful and relaxing place with a nice bottle of wine and the hot tub. The views are absolutely stupendous as is the hospitality. The breakfasts stocked in the fridge were delicious. Dave and Eileen also provided items for the lactose intolerant and any other special request we had. We are looking forward to visiting our son and daughter-in-law again and will definitely be staying at the Cottage B&B.

Thank you Eileen and Dave for being such gracious hosts and sharing your wonderful home!
