“Splendid Tranquility”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

An absolutely perfect get away. We headed up on Friday arriving just after 3:00 (check in time) and were met by John the nice manager. He took us to our cabin, a one bedroom with kitchenette and explained the simple rules. We took a short walk about and then headed to our own private hot tub, which was enclosed in the rear yard of our cabin. Oh lala the hot tub was fabulous and the snow was gently falling as we watched the skies darken into night. The cabin was fresh and clean and a nice size for two (plus the dog). The floor of the cabin is aggregate so I'm really glad we brought slippers to shuffle around in. The kitchenette had a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and a 4 burner stove complete with little oven. The only thing missing would be an indoor fireplace; however there is an outdoor fire pit in the front. This was the most relaxing weekend that we've had in years with no care of the time as we weren't going anywhere except for walks in the magnificent woods. Just a dusting of snow covered the ground so snowshoeing and cross country skiiing weren't an option this time around.

Room Tip: There is a swimming pool however it is not open in the winter.

Interesting.... quiet and the mountains are beautiful. We went hiking and it was a huge change of pace from what we usually do in Chelan. Everything is nice and clean. That said, the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in! The fold out couch jammed my poor son in the back and kept falling down near his head. We paid for a full kitchen but the fridge was super small and froze some foods and did not keep frozen my other foods. I just wish I had known and I would have been prepared. Also, the bees... Not their fault, obviously, but too many for my boys to enjoy the pool or for us to sit outside except late at night. Quite the drive up the hill so no partying or having a drink at the bottom and coming up afterwards. Just so you know. But still nice, just very different....

We stayed in both the 1 bedroom cabin and the sleeper cabin. We would definitely stay in the cabin again, with the private hot tub. But we would pass on the sleeper cabin (my partner did not like need to venture out to the public washroom for the wee hour visits to the washroom).

Tim and John are easy to deal with and very helpful. They sell a few basic items in their office, and a DVD library. There was also a pool table in the common room. The one disappointing thing was that this was only accessible during office hours (until 4pm).

The cabins are intended to provide a bit of a rustic feel (assortment of cutlery, glassware, small TV). The bed was nice with excellent linens. The hideabed was not confortable at all.

The location has a very remote feel. The 7 mile drive from Manson is very interesting with all the neighbouring orchards. We followed our GPS on one trip that took us down a public road, but i would swear it was just a dirt working road through one of the orchards.

Room Tip: I would only want to stay in Cabin 3, 5, or 6. Cabin 1, 2, 4 have limited privacy. There is a Teepe...

Hi we are going to stay here for three nights
So far so good but there are tons of bees here
We were able to bring our chihuahua here
I don't like the concrete floors in the cabin, very rough and uncomfortable

We had a great two nights-wish we could have stayed longer. Quiet and beautiful! Nice hiking trails. We went up to Echo Ridge one morning. It was a fairly easy hike with spectacular views! The pool is small, but my teenage boys had a blast in it! We watched the sunset from the hot tub-oh so relaxing! Tim and John are very friendly and helpful hosts. We plan on going back. Maybe in winter next time!

Room Tip: The two bedroom cabins cost more, but are higher up the hill and have great mountain views.

A couple of girlfriends and I stumbled over Uncle Tim's Cabins last year while going up to Echo Ridge for a hike and immediately stopped to get a brochure so we could book a trip for this year. Tim was a GREAT help when we had scheduling issues, and when we checked out on Sunday we told him we barely wanted to leave! He and manager John were wonderful, and we've already planned to make this an annual trip.

We stayed in Cabin 3, which was perfect for three of us. The over-sized dorm fridge held everything we needed, and there were only a couple of things we'd wished we had while we were cooking on the full-sized stove (e.g., a garlic press, and tin foil and baggies for leftovers). The beds were very comfortable, the water pressure good, the hot tub and grill were just right.

If you prefer bar soap to liquid soap in the shower, be sure to take your own bar, and the concrete floors are a little harsh on sensitive feet so take slippers or flip-flops to wear inside.

We never did use the TV/satellite or DVD player...we were too busy hanging out in the hot tub, or at the picnic table, enjoying being outside.

While the road up to the cabins is pretty close to town, the time it takes to get from the main road to the cabins can be around 15 minutes. For us, it was a wonderful separation from the hubbub of downtown Chelan =) but if you forget something in town, it's a little further than you might want to go for a quick trip to the Red Apple or Safeway.
