We used this house for a recent Whidbey Island wedding event. The bride's large family enjoyed this special lodging. Beautiful house on beautiful Useless Bay. The beach and yard are perfect for family gatherings. Stunning views. The kitchen is equipped for any type of entertaining and the bedrooms and baths are comfortable and some have views of the beach. The master deck has an unparalleled view of the bay. We loved that our families and friends could stop by and easily park in the massive driveway. Manicured gardens surround the home. On sight managers were delightful and helpful and gave us ample privacy to celebrate. Absolutely top rate rental.
Second review: You did not print my FIRST submission, and I think it fair to let those looking for a rental know how disappointed our group of 9 adiults were.
Heron's Crossing did have a lovely, well tended yard, but the photo on the website showed the managers' back and front yards, giving the impression through photos that the yards were accessible to renters, which was not the case, without intruding upon their privacy.
The managers were located just on the other side of one of the bedroom's wallS, and judging from how the managers accessed the rental bedroom (where a printer was located), we felt they should have purchased their own equipment so they would not come into that space or the area dedicated to massages. Note that the massage room was on the other side of the master bedroom and could not be locked to prevent access on our rental side. Managers came into our garage on a daily basis, they made our rental available as needed. We had business owners and professionals who brought computers and work which had privacy issues.
Doors could not be locked in the rear where the marsh was, and so our personal property was never secured to my satisfaction.
The reason I rate the accommodation so low has the most to do with the fact that the property was misleading in its website, stating the number of bathrooms as 5. Indeed, five of us (three different families) shared a full bath. Another couple walked across the living, dining room to get to their 3/4 bath. Not having the convenience of 5 bathrooms and bedrooms was MOST INCONVENIENT. We rented the property based on false information on the website.
After the price had been agreed upon, early in the process, the owner sent a request for an additional $750. We learned later that the same thing had happened to another renter; we read about it at a later date on Trip Advisor reviews.
Because the number of bathrooms was misrepresented, we requested a refund. However, she offered no compensation.to our group.
We have stayed in stunning accommodations over the last ten years in California, Oregon and Washington, and never have we been discouraged or dissatisfied. This is the only review I have written. That, alone, speaks volumes.
We had people coming from all places, and all were tired from work. Pretty much when you pull into the driveway, and see all the gardens and home you are relaxed. Many of us said it reminded of Us of New England beach house. Manager met us at the house, showed us around and was very friendly and helpful. Although he does live right next door, we never heard or saw him unless we had a question which he responded to right away, by text.
The kitchen was fully stocked - everything you would need is there. We cooked every night except one! Grill is clean and worked great!
Views are amazing- everyday and night we saw osprey diving for fish, herons, seagulls, and pelicans.. and not just one or two... tons of these. Very quiet! Beach walks many times during the day. Sunsets beautiful! Clamming right outside the yard. We got a lot, But we could not keep due to temp restrictions.
A/c was wonderful to have.
Location was perfect- from getting clamming license, shopping, restaurants coffee shops and downtown Langley was all 10 mins away.
House was very clean and everyone said the beds were very comfortable. There were 5 rooms and 3 full baths with showers and one additional bathroom with just toilet.
Master suite had own deck which had amazing views.
I would give 4.5 stars of the system would allow.
Great family spot, as there is plenty of room and plenty to do.
This is the third year I have stayed at Heron's Crossing and I should have left a review before. Everything is exceptional. The house sits at the end of a quiet street. The lush garden in front of the house was in full bloom this July. There is parking for at least 4 or 5 cars in the driveway. When you enter the front door you can see all the way through to the back of the house and the amazing ocean view. I have always traveled to the home with a group of friends. There are 5 bedrooms and plenty of space for everyone. Only 3 of the bedrooms have ocean views but the other two have views of the garden. The bedrooms are well appointed and the beds and pillows are comfortable. Shampoo, conditioner and soap is provided in the showers. We spend most of our meals at the house and the kitchen is very well equipped. We have access to cruiser bikes and kayaks. When the tide is in you literally step down from the back yard and put your kayak in. Herons, Bald Eagles, and these rare white pelicans can be seen from the backyard. I love taking long walks on the beach and having a fire outside at night. Waking up to the ocean and a cup of coffee. The place is magical and so relaxing. There is a couple that lives on the property and cares for the home and grounds. The wife is a massage therapist and you can book an appt with her in the massage room upstairs. I have done this twice and it was great! You never have to leave the house if you don't want to but the island is fun to explore and there is quite a bit to do if you have a car.
What a delightful girlfriend getaway at Heron's Crossing, we've been coming here for several years now. The house is stunning, with beautiful attention to detail in every room and every corner. The gardens are so charming and the kind property caretaker offered us fresh vegetables from the front vegetable garden. What a delight to cook in the well-appointed kitchen with these fresh vegetables on a summer night, then eating on the back patio and enjoyed Blue Herons flying past at sunset. It was truly magical at this waterfront property. We enjoyed s'mores in the evening (with a fire pit in the backyard with firewood and s'more sticks provided) under the bright stars. Bring your beach shoes to walk on the tide flats - such a northwest experience. I highly recommend Heron's Crossing and will be coming again next year
This was our second visit to the house at Heron’s Crossing. The house is lovely and comfortable. The views of Sunlight Beach are spectacular. Gardens and lawns are spacious and inviting. The beach provides opportunity for long walks at low tide and kayaking and paddle boarding at high tide. For a group, there is room to spread out and find a quiet spot when you need it and there is pleasant space for group meals or activities both inside and outside. We really enjoyed exploring shops and cafes in Whidbey Island’s neighboring communities and found delicious local foods for cooking with while out exploring. This property has caretakers who are discreet and unobtrusive but friendly and available for help or questions when needed. I hope to return to Heron’s Crossing again.
I loved this place. It was quiet & charming. Beautiful gardens, kayaks & SUPs to borrow. So relaxing to be there, i wished i could've stayed longer. Only 20 minutes from the ferry, but you feel like you're far from the maddening crowds.
