“Comfortable and clean cabins in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

We stayed in the Foreman's cabin for 3 nights in July. We found Christine very helpful in advising us about what we could do around the area and quickly set off on a walk up Sauk mountain. We had 3 beautiful days of walking in the North Cascades in brilliant sunshine.
The cabin was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped and it had air conditioning. It wasn't too hot when we were there so we didn't really need the air conditioning but we did use the fan in the bedroom one evening.
The cabins are 2 fields away from the Inn and they are surrounded by woods and a river which has beavers that we didn't manage to have time to look for.
We were supposed to stay in the inn for one night due to the cabin being occupied, however when the guest didn't show up Eleanor let us stay in the same cabin again. Although we didn't stay in the inn, from what we saw, it appeared comfortable and Eleanor was very attentive and kind. My only observation which made the inn less ideal for us was the night time curfew was early and we had to rush to make sure we were back in time after a long day's walking. So I preferred the cabin overall.

We stayed here August 10th, prior to our planned hike up to the Sahale Glacier. We felt very fortunate to have discovered this B&B and consider it a real gem. We stayed in two rooms in the main house that were spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. No a/c and bath is shared, but we knew this going in. Fans were available in each room. Did not see the cabins. Can't comment about breakfast as we left early and ate at Peek's Perk in the town of Concrete where we had this hearty egg scramble meal. We looked around in the town of Concrete and liked what we saw. We would definitely recommend this location to stay at while exploring the Skagit Valley area of the North Cascades.

Our family of 5 stayed in the Bear Hollow Cabin this summer. We were doing a driving tour of the Cascade Loop and needed a convenient location for one night before heading into the North Cascades National Park. The cabins are located about 0.5 mile across the main road from the Inn- we didn't feel this was clear from the website so we were surprised not to be staying on the main property. The cabins are in a cluster located next to a cattle pasture with some trees. There is no view of Mt. Baker from the cabins or of the river. Even after making multiple attempts, we could not find the access to the walk along the river. The cabin was large and clean but very dated. The 2 bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the cabin and the window unit air conditioning did not cool the bedrooms. There are 2 full size futons in the living room- that area did stay cool. We could not get hot water in one of the bathrooms so we all shared the one bathroom for showers. The cabin seemed well equipped in the kitchen but since we were only staying one night we chose to eat dinner out in Concrete. There is a beautiful fenced meadow off the back deck but in general the grounds were not well kept. This is in contrast to the landscaping and grounds at the Inn which were very well maintained. Although it was a convenient location, we were disappointed for the money we spent and would most likely find another place to stay if we find ourselves in the North Cascades again.

Aerial maps are on our website which clearly show the entire property. All guests at check-in are given a copy of the same map. All maps are highlighted and clearly marked on how to get to your cabin, walks to the river and come with a verbal explanation. The décor in our units reflect the history of the area and ranch. Most if not all the antiques are from four generations of working this beautiful piece of property. Due to the location of the cabins on the 580 acre working cattle ranch care had to be taken in placement of cabins to not interrupt the "working cattle" part of the ranch. This unit has a fan in each room and central AC in the living room area. We have purchased AC units for each of the bedrooms to help cool them down. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Hot water should be used judiciously. We will be installing a tank less water heater to better serve the number of people showering in the unit. The grounds at the Main Inn are more formal and the cabin landscaping was designed to be more natural. Most guests appreciate the love and care we have put into our property.

The negatives: This is a B&B - when we checked in, we were told that breakfast would be served at 9:00. When we came at 9:00 and asked about breakfast, we were told there was no breakfast and that the person who checked us in had made a mistake. The bed was too soft and I had to sleep on the floor; luckily there were extra blankets in the closet to make a pallet. Sink in the bathroom was ultra-small; when I washed my face a lot of water spilled on the floor. I ended washing my face, brushing my teeth, etc. at the kitchen sink in order to have a decent-sized sink. Although there was a coffee maker in the cabin, and some packets of sugar, creamer and coffee and tea, this was not replaced the next morning (nor was the bed made), so the second morning we could not have any coffee. We met the owner, but got the impression that she was tired of the B&B business. Cabins are cute, but service is going downhill.

The positives: Small, well-designed cabin with small fixtures to fit the space - cute! Friendly staff. Even though far away from a large town, and near the Cascades, there was a modern flat screen TV and the cabin was Wi-Fi-ed.

This place was not comfortable enough to stay again or recommend to others.

Due to sudden illness of the innkeeper our guests were given a cabin to stay in for the night. Breakfast is not included in the cabin pricing. During check-in our staff member was not informed that the cook was sick. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are sorry we cannot please all with their bed preference. The sink in this bathroom was made smaller to accommodate the handicapped. As far as your bed not being made, we have trained our staff not to touch personnel items which were on the bed. If your coffee had not been refilled please call the office and it will be refilled promptly. As for service going down hill you caught the innkeeper on an "off" day

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of May. This worked out well for our trip, and the location was fine. There really isn't a whole lot else in the area, but that's what we were going for.

The only issue he had was that we arrived outside of the normal check-in hours, so we were approved to go directly to the cabin. The problem was that we had some difficulty figuring out where the cabins were. The signs at the road are very good pointing out where the house is, but it is very unclear that the cabins are down the driveway across the street. We got it all worked out though, and everything was fine after that.

I believe we had the smallest cabin, so we were a little cramped, but that was our fault for picking that cabin. It was very clean and we didn't have any issues. Great visit!

This is the closest place to stay on the west side of the North Cascades Highway. There are several cabins nestled together in a treed area -- very quiet and private. The cabin we stayed in was very comfortable. There are fully equipped kitchens, bbq's, decks, etc. Staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If it's going to be hot ask for a cabin that does not face due west.

The staff is friendly and accomidating. The place is a country slow paced gettaway. if you are looking to get away and slow down and relax, this place is perfect. Not many modern amenities, no nght life in the nearby town, in fact most places close by 9:00PM. If you want an all inclusive resort this is not the place. Many outdoor activities just minutes away. I thought it was great.
