“Pleasant stay.”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

Stayed in the basic hotel room with a partial view of the bay on which the resort is located. We were pleasantly surprised. Our initial reaction was of a resort that was aging and needed attention. Our first interaction, getting lunch in the cafe was underwhelming as the person who took an order from us was decidedly unhelpful. In contrast, the food was good and our spirits brightened. Then, we found our room nicely clean with a new k-size bed that turned out to be very comfortable. We ate a lite supper in the lounge of the mansion's restaurant, where the food was good and the service fine. As I sit on our small deck this morning, sipping coffee and writing this review, my wife and I are pleased to report that our over-night experience at the Rosario has been nice. We can recommend this spot.

Arrived by boat and the marine accommodation was very good. The old manor house is very interesting, the daily organ recital and history lesson on the Manor is a "must see", and dinner at the restaurant was great ambiance, and good food.
But the highlight was the 2 bedroom apartment we had in the "Residences" building on the property. This was truly outstanding with great views, great beds, spacious, well equipped, etc. It was really the way you would want it to be if you owned it personally.
The rest of the Island has many attractions. The town of Eastsound is a really nice destination and the view from the top of the mountain in Moran State park are terrific.

We spend our 23rd Anniversary at the Rosario Resport and really enjoyed most of it. On the positive side we were greeted promply, our room was ready and very nice, the view was awesome. We had a large deck right over the water and the view was awesome. So quite and peaceful. The only two issues we had was the restaurant service was very slow, at breakfast we waited over an hour after ordering, the server said they did not think they would be so busy that day. We quitely waiting and enjoyed the view even though the couple across from us, who waited that same time we did complained to the manager and got several applogies and their meal for free. When the manager came by our table my husband said we had waited over an hour for our meal and the manager just said ok and walked away. Unbelievable. So we ate at the little cafe/market across the road the rest of the time and never ate in the restaurant again. While relaxing at the pool the staff in the building next door decided to blast there radio to hard rock and rap while yelling and singing, we could not longer relax, and all the couples at the pool left. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Rosario.

We first stayed at Rosario 30 years ago and came back to celebrate our 30th Anniversary.
This Grand Old Mansion has withstood the years very well and the scenery and the incredible location has not changed at all.
We had heard that they had come out of a Bankruptcy but any sign of it was not evident.
Some of the rooms have not been renovated but the ones that have been are all in very good condition. The staff were all VERY friendly and certainly made our 3 day stay more enjoyable because of their good and attentive service. The food in the resturant was very good and we ate their more often than we had planned because it was so well prepared attractively served.
We did have to walk around the deer living on the property to get around but that was a small price to pay for being so close to them.
Again, compliments to the staff as they made the visit a real pleasure.
We did not try the SPA but visited it and saw that it was quite busy.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a view of the Sound.

We stayed in the Harborside unit...loved the new beds...but the view took our breaths away. Deck had 2 chairs and a cocktail table. Could have spent the whole time out there.

Booked a night here recently to be close to the whale watching deoarture site. Took the ferry over after rush hour on a Fri night. We arrived at Rosario's just before 9:00 hungry & tired. The young woman at the front dest was very polite & perky. Luckily the dining room was open till 10:00. EVERYTHING else close by closed at 9:00. Beef stew exceptionally salty. Burger excellent but pricey as one might expect. So now we are no longer hungry but pretty wiped out. We have our map/directions to our room down the road. It's dark by now and the entrance/exit is fairly confusing. There are few lights and signs are not clear. They gave us a name of the bldg we were staying in. Unfortunately, the name is NOT in the bldg. Well after about 10 mins of driving all over the property on dark narrow roads wondering if we were the ones going in the wrong direction I went back to the front desk and got clarification. When I mentioned my concerns she said "They're working on it" Room is beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The beds are very high off the ground but probably the MOST comfortable hotel bed I've ever been on. We were in the harborside rooms which have a nice balcony on the water with obstructed views....damn trees! Oh yes, be sure to check out the museum for the history of the property. Quick summary: Was built by ship builders so most everything in the main bldg looks like a ship.

If I could rate our experience with 6 stars, I would. The only negative was having to leave. We stayed 3 nights in a recently renovated bayside queen room with nice decor, flat screen TV , view of the harbor and exceptionally clean room. The location is in a beautiful and peaceful setting on spacious grounds which rivals some of the nicest places that I've stayed in Switzerland. Deer roam freely on the property. The Moran State park is closeby and has some nice short trails to the waterfalls. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the General Manager, Christopher Peacock takes a personal interest in making his guests feel at home and comfortable. The historic mansion on the property is used as the reception area, restaurant and a musem. Christopher Peacock gives a wonderful (daily) presentation of the history of the mansion as well as plays the Steinway piano and pipe organ for his guests. Our visit was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back. We will be booking again for October.
