“A gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

This was a perfect place to stay. Very reasonable compared with other lodging and the views were superb. Eagle sightings daily. The hotel rooms are up high on a hill and the view of the puget sound is amazing. Ferries visible in the distance. Rosario Marina in the foreground. This hotel has been through many changes over the years and appears to have finally "made it" as it's a setting that is beautiful and the lodging seems to match. The Rosario Bar had good food too. We opted not to eat in the Dining Room and were glad we ate at the bar. Food more reasonable and very tasty. Lots of options: spa, fitness center, pools. We enjoyed hiking to Cascade Lake from Rosario. Easy trail to catch at the back of the property. Steep for the first five or so minutes but then easy. Around the lake is a must.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view. Up on the hill.

We were recently married at Rosario Resort and Spa, and could not have picked a better venue. The views are stunning, the resort equipped with everything we could need for our guests - restaurants, pools, a gym, lounge, perfect location on Orcas island with many nearby activities, and a range of accommodations for every budget. But what really stood out to us was the service - from an impromptu visit on Easter Sunday to look at the venue, through over a year of planning, a week with our families at the resort, and the weekend with our loved ones, the kindness, generosity, flexibility, and attention to detail by this staff was exceptional. They were instrumental in creating the perfect atmosphere, keeping us all calm and collected, and helping to bring personalized touches to our guests' experience. We feel so lucky to have found this gem on Orcas, and will look forward to returning for years to come.

Room Tip: Every building has a different vibe and unique attributes - be sure to ask the staff for advice base...

I return every year for a week of peace. This island is truly amazing. The resort is one of the best places I have stayed. When you consider the staff, room, view, wildlife, peaceful little spots tucked away. There is one spot right across the oar king lot from harbor view that has a little waterfall and picnic table the perfect place for morning coffee. So many beautiful spots. The week I spend here gets me ready to face the upcoming year. If I only could take one vacation a year it would be this one. You will be doing yourself a huge favor by coming here. The whole island is perfect. But of your looking for exciting nightlife and never-ending excitement this is not the place. Ending note the island is primarily a state park.

The 4 pm organ recital/lecture/historic slide show is delightful and worth a stop. The bar and dining room can be very lively but also quite loud. So loud that you have to yell to communicate with dinner partners. Some carpet or curtains in the dining room would help reduce the noise. Dining room rates about a B- : very good salad and whole Dungeness crab, but the corn on the cob tasted frozen and the shellfish pasta was overdone (both the shellfish and the pasta). Dessert listed as "Local stone fruit" was described as "peaches from Florida." Great starting point for hiking Moran State Park. It's a steep climb for about 10 mins before reaching beautiful Cascade Lake.

We stayed in two different Hillside Deluxe King suites. They were very nice, but make sure you get the one upstairs as the downstairs suite was very noisy. The Cascade Bay Grill was not a very good meal. The corn bread was dry and cold, the potato salad had bacon in it, the ribs had too much pepper in the mix and were a little dry as well. The Blueberry Shake was great. We also ate at the Mansion and it was fantastic. If you go downtown for breakfast eat at the Café Olga the baked egg dishes were amazing. We had to check out of one room and go to another on the same day and requested priority handling, but were denied a room until 4PM. I thought this could have been handled better. You have to checkout at 11 AM or you are charged another night! The beds have a plastic pad and a bed bug protector, both of which we needed to remove to get a good nights sleep and not sweat to death.

Great location on the water. Excellent restaurant. Nice rooms with a great view. Relaxing pool area. Mansion itself is an amazing museum. Eastsound is a picturesque, touristy town. Make sure to eat at Mojitas.

Just spent 3 nights there celebrating my mother's 90th birthday. It could not have been any more perfect. Our condo was spacious, beds and bedding were great , and the views from our balcony were to die for. From the heated outdoor pools to the most awesome vintage indoor pool, the music room and the beautiful grounds, one could feel the history and opulence from days gone by. The staff were thoughtful and attentive. There is nothing I can say that's negative. It is definitely worth a stay if you are going to Orcas Island
