We stayed here for 2 days during our honeymoon tour of the Pacific Northwest. When we arrived, Peter took us on a tour and explained where everything was and how everything worked. We stayed our first night in the Steller suite and the second in the Chickadee room (a scheduling snafu, which Peter & Helen remedied by giving us the suite at the same price as the Chickadee room). When we walked into our suite, there was a Congratulations! banner hanging over the bed, a nice touch.

The breakfasts were phenomenal. The gardens are beautiful. We enjoyed a private soak in the hot tub both nights (you sign up for 45-minute blocks). The second night, we spied a pack or raccoons by the tub (or they spied us). Very nice, welcoming place. We recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for my birthday and we could not have enjoyed our stay on Orcas Island more. Our suite was wonderful with plenty of room. It was quite comfortable and very quiet. Our breakfast was delicious each morning and we enjoyed views of the gardens and watching the innskeepers' cats in action along with the birds that would feed on the deck. The hospitality was wonderful. We wish we had taken advantage of the outdoor jacuzzi but hopefully we can next time. Would definitely recommend this place and the past reviews were right on . Wonderful bed and breakfast establishment. Will return.

Kangaroo House had something to offer for every member of our family. We stayed in the Flicker Suite, which offers a separate sitting/tv room. The house and grounds are utterly charming and seductive, but play second-fiddle to the innkeepers themselves. Beyond their culinary skills--which move breakfast from a meal to an event, they are hospitable to a fault and thoroughly knowledgeable about the natural and cultural world of the San Juan Islands. Be sure to take the garden path to the hot tub some evening! ---David and Kristina, Three Rivers, CA

The Kagaroo House with its charming hosts Pete and Hellen Allen, is a must stay B & B when you visit Orcas Island. The Craftsman style house, extensive garden, and fabulous breakfast are not to be forgotten. Be sure to sample their homemade whole grain cereal. Yes, the Kangaroo House is leaps and bounds ahead of any other.

My husband and I stayed at the Kangaroo House for two nights, back in July of 1998 (unfortunately this web site only allows me to go back as far as 1999). Everything about it was perfect: the owners, the setting, the ambiance, the breakfasts....I recall having to share a bathroom, but it was worth it to stay at such a nice place. Would definitely return!

The Kangaroo House is an enchanted B&B on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. The house is decorated to perfection with an Australian magic. The host and hostess are genuine, kind and so thoughtful in welcoming their guests. They pamper their guests with a breakfast so delicious and the presentation is unbelievable. They say the guests that return are part of a "bomerang" club and I hope to join that club too. You won't want to miss the beautiful gardens. A thankful and grateful guest, Monte Vista, Colorado

My friend and I recently stayed at the Kangaroo House on Orcas Island in the San Juans, in the Puget Sound of the State of Washington. The service was fantastic; we truly felt pampered. The views were beautiful, especially of the garden. The almost-century-old house is elegant and charming. We stayed in the very early springtime when the weather was still chilled and rainy. The house is very warm and comfortable, in perfect repair, extremely clean. What you will notice most is how quiet it is. You sleep soundly and comfortably. The breakfasts are without comparison. All for the price, or even less, than you would pay for only a common hotel room. I highly recommend this experience, even if you choose it for the breakfasts alone, which will definitely start your day with a good, healthy feeling and a smile. Kangaroo House Bed and Breakfast is the calming, peaceful force in your vacation day. Always a retreat after your day, and so comforting. The proprietors, Peter and Helen, affectionately call their repeat customers "boomerangs", and that is what I will definitely be.
