“Relaxing and peaceful getaway”

The Otters Pond B & B was just what we had hoped for and more. My daughter and I so enjoyed our room overlooking the otters pond. Sue and Carl are so welcoming. The breakfast they served each morning was delightful. They were so helpful with useful tips for the island. We hiked both days because my daughter loves the outdoors. We also enjoyed the good restaurants and little stores on the island. Each evening we came back to the otters pond where it was peaceful and so comfortable. The fireplace, the hot tub, the beautiful surroundings. The Otters Pond B & B is like a piece of heaven.

Room Tip: Just ask Sue and Carl to suggest a room when you book your stay. Their home is so beautiful. Any o...

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway to share with your loved one, go here. We had such a relaxing weekend at Otter's Pond. Sue and Carl have a beautiful home set in the woods next to a large pond. It is an excellent getaway from the craziness of the city, where all of your needs are cared for. We didn't bring our swim gear for the hot tub but certainly will for the next time we are here. The homemade breakfasts were delicious. We had excellent conversations with the other guests as though they were relatives gathering for Thanksgiving. We will certainly be returning here in the future.

Thank you Sue and Carl for making our first B&B experience so wonderful! The moment we arrived we knew it was going to be a great weekend. We were greeted with a friendly smile and taken care of in a such a warm and welcoming way the entire stay. Breakfast was amazing! So amazing we had to buy Sue's cookbook to try it at home, although it won't be as good I'm sure! Our room was large, clean and cozy. The fireplace was perfect to come back to after our day out. With flowers on our table and turn down service we just couldn't imagine a better place to have spent our Valentines Day weekend. We highly recommend Otters Pond B&B! Hope we get to visit you again soon!

Room Tip: We highly recommend the Goldfinch room, it has it's own entrance and is large with a fireplace a...

We visited Otters Pond over Valentine's Day weekend and it was a wonderful experience. Carl and Sue were such lovely hosts; we have never had such amazing breakfasts in the morning. Our mouths just dropped as they served us a five course meal each morning. The rooms were wonderfully kept and located in such a beautiful setting. If you are looking for a quiet, charming retreat and want to be pampered, I would highly recommend this establishment.

We were met at the door with a scowl when my husband stepped into the entry way with his shoes (having missed the sign that says "leave you shoes outside". I was belittled in front of others when a little of my foundation makeup was found on the wrong white hand towel and the hostess specifically said "now I have to throw this towel away"; Other guests that weekend were interrupted while intimate in their room with non-stop knocks at the door even when they didn't answer. There was no water on the dining table at breakfast time; and we were told not to change the temperature of the hot tub when it wasn't even hot! Instead of only being present when needed, they were in the house all the time...like security agents. The food was okay. We will not be back.

Room Tip: Choose another place like the Inn that is right in town in East Sound. Their host when we visited wa...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we always appreciate hearing from our guests although we always expect good reviews.
We do appreciate guests leaving their shoes outside or in their rooms. We mention that when we take a reservation, on our website and in our confirmation letter that we are shoeless and provide nice, clean slippers. A reminder on the front door is one of our few signs. Damage to the hardwood floors in the entry occurs because of trapped rocks and debris from hiking, and gravel parking areas. Most Island residents and many of our guests say they are shoeless at their homes and it is frequently the custom and a courtesy when visiting others in the Pacific Northwest.

“Scowling” is not in our repertoire. We are sorry that you took offense to our kind reminder.

Ahhh, make up cloths….. We provide two special types of makeup removing cloths. The black washcloth has a bold “Make-up” embroidered on it, designed specifically for makeup removal. The other is a package of moist makeup remover cloths. I asked you nicely after finding white washcloths and towels heavily stained with makeup to please use the provided towelletes; these guests were starting up the stairs, no other guests were within earshot and it’s never our intent to embarrass our guests. (This guest responded by saying that I could use bleach like she does.) Being a “Green Property,” we are sensitive to this beautiful pond and wet-land, and with a septic system, using bleach in the wash isn’t an option for us. I do have to throw away stained washcloths and linens. An additional white washcloth, hand and bath towel had make-up on them the following day.

You are correct in stating that the hot tub may have cooled off before you used it because other guests had vacated it minutes before you entered the water; it can take up to 15 minutes to come back to temperature of 102 F. For safety, we keep the hot tub at 102 F max. which is a safe temp. for most guests for 10-30 minutes.

It is a rare guest that isn’t courteous and respectful to us and each other. If you read other Trip Advisor reviews you will note that many reviewers are appreciative of our unobtrusive character as we never “hover” and in fact are rarely present in the main B&B between 5 and 10PM since we live immediately next door. We are sorry you felt like people were watching you every moment. I can assure you it wasn’t us and yours is a criticism we have never received in sixteen years of successful business.

We had been to Otter's Pond once before and loved it so much we went back and took our friend with us. Sue and Carl are wonderful hosts and have such a beautiful home. The Otters Pond B&B is quiet and centrally-located on Orcas Island so we could easily get up to Mt. Constitution and explore the rest of the island. It was so nice to get away from the city for a couple of nights to relax in the hot tub (make sure you ask for the hot tub wine cups!), go on some day hikes, enjoy some nice meals, and do some shopping. Sue and Carl are extremely accommodating, and they want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Oh yeah, I can't forget to mention how great they are at cooking! The honey pepper bacon is our favorite. Thanks for a wonderful weekend again!

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Otters Pond B&B. We were welcomed like family and felt at home from the moment we walked into their home. The meals were exceptional and conversation flowed comfortably and freely. We will return to this warm and inviting B&B.
